Where do you advertise?

Breaking into the web hosting business is hard, especially with the market being as saturated as it is. My company has yet to use things like Google AdSense, but we started out as a Game Server hosting company and eventually added on VPS hosting. The kinds of advertising we've done has been mainly forum posting and word of mouth. As a game server provider, getting involved with sponsoring events and servers (which cost practically nothing to do) for events is a good way to promote our other services as well.
 
I personally dont like google addwords.

Go for:

Web Hosting related forums
Place banners to varius websites
Talk to people about your company
Article writing
 
Really word of mouth is king imo, specialised forums are great too. Google AdWords is really expensive when you start to advertise and ROI is really low.
 
Marketing really starts with selecting your target market. From there you can develop a marketing campaign developed to appeal to that target market.

Blindly blasting out ad campaigns is a waste of money really.
 
We have many clients which are actually buying more of our stuff. That means we're doing something right :) Good support is always a big plus.
 
We use (and we detect a huge difference if we don't use it) Google Adwords (good 'configuration' suggested;) )and some principal social networks (FB, Twitter, G+ and Linkedin).

For companies with a good number of customers, the 'word of mouth will work like a charm if you have a nice support :)

Google Adwords is good if you have budget for it. It will bring you enough leads. The idea after is to keep them as long as possible. You can also use facebook, twitter, linkedin and bloggers!! use bloggers.

If you want to pay for traffic then i would go for buysellads or adwords. Make sure that your offering is unique and customers could magically turn heads and look at your product however you must be really lucky. Hope this helped, never give up and good luck
 
I've been using BuySellAds lately and almost breaking even. I'd say the most effective ways to advertise are word-of-mouth and local advertising. Other methods seem too saturated.
 
One of the best ways to promote your company or products you can use social media as a platform. If you can invest some money for your company you can use google adwords to promote your website
 
Where do you advertise?

To start advertising you should consider a few things such as submit your site to every directory, specialty listing, industry organization, and yellow pages you can find, Blogs, Forums, facebook ads, free classifed ads...and etc.
 
If your thing is hosting you can bet that if you pay advertising on wht ,things will be always marvelous there as you remember is the most influential forum,well this applies to WARRIOR forum too.
Well most guys have no good comments about Adwords Google,they are as elevated as their costs.

And that guy of the chicks on skating,such a pervert that knows how efficient is inventing forms of local advertising,well it depends your biz and what you sell
