When good hosts go out of business

Anyone who has been on the internet long enough probably has some hosts which they remember pretty fondly, but they went out of business for whatever reason. What do you remember these hosts by, and was it ever revealed what lead to them going out of business?

Some of the most common factors seems to be: lack of customers, prices are too low, and any number of other things.

dr2.net had some of the best support I have ever seen in the industry. They decided to merge with another company. Once the merge of the two equals happened the support went to crap. I was motivated to start in the hosting industry. Still here 7 years later.

The company that ended up buying the new company was webhostplus. If you have been around this industry you know how big of scam artists they are.

Its good reading this thread. Its more a thread showing How not to go out of business.

But like Zachary has said about DR2.Net {only other company I have used in this thread}, the problem when companies merge the issues that come from that.. Sad really. when we see good hosts who do the job right, ask for the right price and then are under cut big time by companies suck as HostGator and drive them out of business
