What’s working best for getting website traffic in 2026?

I’ve been testing SEO and content strategies for a few projects.
In my experience, focusing on content + long-tail keywords works well.

I’m currently working on a small project (my brand), still experimenting with traffic methods.

Curious to know — what strategies are working for you?

Content is the biggest exposure by far. There's a lot of content being eaten up by AI and presented to the user without them ever getting to the website, for the right target, those users click the link to read more info.

The last info I heard was that nearly 60% of all searches don't lead to a click - this is all due to AI.

That said, we're killing it on AI for our website. For us, it's the same as it's ever been - focus on answering questions users have. If that's long-form content, short Q&A, longtail keywords, or coding solutions - it's all about the end user.

And it's not all about US either. If you search Google for "upcity", a service that had millions of searches and shut down, you'll see that we're ranking #2. Number two for a brand that isn't even ours? That's the power of content!

I’ve seen quick wins by refreshing old posts with clearer answers and adding a short video. Pairing that with internal links usually bumps traffic faster than publishing something brand new.

In my professional opinion, the key focus areas should be content creation and cross-platform integration. In the current landscape, it is essential that AI models reference your brand when generating responses, as this serves as a significant driver of potential traffic to your website.

To achieve this, we successfully integrate our media channels by embedding our YouTube content directly into our published articles. This strategy substantially enhances domain authority and trust with AI algorithms, leading to more frequent citations in AI-generated search results. Ultimately, I highly recommend maximizing your efforts across all channels to optimize your brand's visibility and presence within AI search models.

Consistent content + fast user experience still seem to matter the most. Sites that combine SEO, short-form video/social traffic, email lists, and good page speed are usually performing better long term than relying on one traffic source alone.

A lot of people also underestimate hosting performance when it comes to bounce rates and rankings. Even a well-designed site struggles if it loads slowly during peak traffic.

Optimizing content for LLM discovery (aka "AI SEO). No one uses Google for product discovery anymore, everything is found on ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, etc.

Follow up to date best practices (or better yet, set up a weekly cron job to do this for you), and you will stay ahead of the curve
