What is unmetered bandwidth ?

In Unmetered Bandwidth company offers a set of Bandwidth (E.g. 1Gbps) where you can use unlimited as you want. The maximum server speed is limited, but the amount of data you can transfer is not.

The amount of data that a server is able to transfer in a specific amount of time is called as bandwidth.

Unmetered hosting doesn’t mean that you can get unlimited traffic on your website. You always get limited traffic, practically but other factors: time and throughput.

When a hosting company offers unmetered bandwidth, it means that they offer a definite amount of bandwidth (for example, 1Gbps) that you can use as much as you want to. You get limited maximum server speed, but the data you can transfer is unlimited.

In a metered bandwidth, the host monitors the amount of data used by you and charges you as per the amount per month. So, the more are your site visitors, the more you will be charged.

The host doesn’t monitor unmetered hosting. It means you can transfer unlimited amount for data but at a limited speed. So, in this case, the you aren’t charged for the data you use but are charged with a predictable flat rate.

Unmetered bandwidth a bandwidth which is not measured. You are permitted to use the unmetered bandwidth unless you are not causing any problem to your clients on the host server.

I tend to describe it as follows:

Unlimited bandwidth simply doesn't exist. Bandwidth costs are expensive and it's crazy to let your clients know that you're giving them 'unlimited' bandwidth.

On the other hand, unmetered bandwidth can exist. It can be simply put in context: "you can use X amount of bandwidth per month, we don't really care because we can scale". It's overselling to an extent, but you're not technically limiting something since unlike hardware, bandwidth capacity can be upgraded just by getting more by paying for more upstream.

In practice, both are horrible. Implementing a fair-use clause in your terms of service is a good way to avoid a headache caused by abusive users.

Is anything unlimited?
This may be the ultimate question of the universe. That being said, the ultimate answer of the universe is probably too good to be true. Does Comcast have the ultimate answer to the ultimate question? No. It's a marketing ploy.

Unmetered bandwidth? Not with us! We're going to nickel you for every gigabit. That being said, would you rather be nickeled or dimed for bandwidth? A reason why we are chosen!

Unmetered is what everybody offers. Apart from hosting server bandwidth, hosting control panels don't offer any real time throttling.

So, there is no such thing as unmetered bandwidth.

Unlimited bandwidth is an illusion. The moment you spike up hosting server usage, they will suspend your account, on basis on FUP.
Having said that, hosting control panels have an option to set bandwidth limit per month.

Bandwidth = amount of data a server can transfer in a certain amount of time. E.g. 1Gbps (1 Gigabyte of data per second)

Metered bandwidth = hosting company charges you based on the amount of data transferred.

Unmetered bandwidth = hosting company charges you a flat rate and you can transfer any amount of data, however with a condition that the maximum server speed is limited.

Unlimited bandwidth = is false. Bandwidth is a measure of speed and server speed is limited.

Unmetered bandwidth is a way of letting clients know that the amount of bandwidth does not really matter although you are still held in the constraints of your network speed.

There is no DC which offer a really Unlimited/Unmetered bandwidth. If they written Unlimited/Unmetered then is it unlimited/unmetered for the average user.

Unmetered hosting means a hosting plan with unmetered traffic. The price you pay each month does not depend on the amount of traffic (data) sent to and from your server during the month. But unmetered does not mean unlimited.

Unmetered hosting usually means it is a hosting plan with un metered traffic, the cost of the plan is not dependent on the amount of data that is used per month.

Unmetered hosting is not monitored as there is no limit to the amount of data you can transfer only the speed is monitored

Well lets be honest, there is nothing unmetered in this world, i believe in fair usage policy. If you buy any vps from any company that say unmetered, and you try to consume a lot of bandwidth, they will suspend you l. Believe me

Unmetered hosting, traffic & bandwidth guide. ... Unmetered hosting means a hosting plan with unmetered traffic. The price you pay each month does not depend on the amount of traffic (data) sent to and from your server during the month. But unmetered does not mean unlimited.

Well, there are many web hosts offering even unmetered disk space, but it is right as it sounds. There is no unlimited disk space. In order to compete in the market, most web hosting companies are already offering affordable web site hosting plan. As a matter of fact, one can right away find quality affordable web site hosting plan or packages in the internet in just a matter of few minutes.

as the OPs account is disabled then pointless repling as he is no longer a forum member, so maybe admins should close this thread

unmetered means that it is not monitored by the host / dc.

There is a limit, but this is usually set by your network speed.
