in shared hosting using a dedicated IP means you are the only one using that IP rather than a shared IP which all it takes is one user to send spam and then the shared IP gets blacklisted and affect everyone using it.

also with a dedicated IP you can set up rDNS

If you are using shared IP address and your neighbours are hosting VPN service in the server, your IP address will be blacklisted in proxy list such as IP2PROXY. Your server might be blocked by many other services in the future.

Adding to what @easyhostmedia has mentioned a dedicated IP is beneficial for the email sender’s reputation.

That depends on who had the IP before you, I recently got a ded IP and the first thing i do is a blacklist check on the IP. This showed clear, but then the first email i sent i got a bounce back saying it was blocked with Spamhaus, so did further checks and found that the previous user used the IP to send spam.

Besides the email sending benefit, a dedicated IP also helps build your customers’ and prospects’ confidence in your business/website.

I don't really think there are any disadvantages of using a dedicated IP.

Dedicated IP address gives website good rating in search engines and also avoid blacklisting due to Any other sites. Disadvantage is need to pay additional cost for IP address

A dedicated IP could still be blacklisted as you dont know who has had it before you are given it.
I would not say paying $2 for a dedicated IP is a disadvantage.

Advantages of Dedicated IP address are -
  1. It improves your standing
  2. It awards admittance to the site
  3. It gives additional security
  4. It allows you to secure your basic email streams
  5. It can deal with higher traffic volumes
Disadvantages of Dedicated IP address are -
  1. It drives you to take a gander at your volume history
  2. It comes at a greater expense
  3. It doesn’t function admirably for low-volume circumstances

Whos Says!

The extra expense approx. $2
They work regardless if you have low traffic or high traffic as before SNI any website that wanted an SSL needed to have a dedicated IP regardless of how much traffic the site had.

3. It provides extra security.
4. It is required by some third-party applications.
5. It allows you to take action immediately.
6. It gives you a chance to protect your critical email streams.
7. It provides an option for multiple domains.
8. It can handle higher traffic volumes.

Disadvantages of a Dedicated IP Address

1. It requires you to manage your volume spikes.
2. It forces you to look at your volume history.
3. It comes at a higher cost.
4. It is something that is in short supply.

6. It only works if you work.

A dedicated IP can benefit you if you're sending large volumes of email. However, it's never recommended to use your web host for email sending. Therefore, when choosing a host, this is not something you should be concerned with. Using a dedicated IP for SSL is a thing of the past.

A dedicated IP can be helpful for different reasons such as:
  • Allowing you to access your website when the DNS is not set up
  • Providing increased speed when the traffic load is high
  • Bringing increased security
But basically, a dedicated IP is like having your own unique identifying number on the web.
Hope it helps.

Could work as a disadvantage doing this as sending too much mail can cause the IP to be blocked for spamming, just the same as a shared IP, the only difference is with a dedicated IP only your site will be affected rather than all sites using a shared IP
