Honestly most people have a different definition for it, apart from the obvious stated above i would say that cloud storage resources can also be changed dynamically as the server is running.

A cloud hosting is the alternative to hosting websites on the single server, whether the server is dedicated or shared.

a true cloud infrastructure is a group of servers ( for example 10 ), and a pool of storage (example 2) all working together through some software based solution. A true cloud will allow the moving of a container/site/node from one server to anther seemliness and live. Data is stored on the storage array. and can be pulled from any of the connect servers.

so for my small example 10 dedicated servers with raid 10 using combined storage of 20TB and each server having 128Gb of ram total 1280Gb of useage ram, the data is stored all on a storage array and that array is mirrored to the other storage array in case of failure.

that is a true cloud solution.

Cloud hosting is hosting our website/data/apps in cloud environment and which is clustered with the servers in multiple datacenters in multiple location. AWS is an example of cloud. So you won't lose your data once one data center or server is totally damaged.

A normal shared hosting is a plan that has multiple websites hosted together and sharing the resources within a server. If you are on a budget, normal hosting would be better for you. However, it won't be the best option if your web page faces a lot of traffic.

Cloud hosting is whereby your website is hosted on a cluster of servers, unlike normal hosting which host websites within a server. It would be great for people who face big amount of traffic, but you would have to pay more.
