What forum do you use?

One thing that I can now say is that switching from phpbb to smf was very easy (for the simple board I have). I wasn't struck by a huge difference in terms of features though. SMF seems a bit more advanced out of the box, but not that advanced. I'll be looking into it a bit more.

PhpBB has great support, tons of mods and the template system is easy to work with and highly customizable. SMF has more features than phpBB, such as attachments, spell check, sub-boards, a quick reply box, unlimited poll options, news feeds from forum content etc. So i would go with SMF.

1.0.5 or 1.1 RC2 ?

Good answer webfreak08! :D

I initially downloaded 1.0.5, but then thought I don't have such a critical forum to not be able to afford a bit of risk, so I went for SMF 1.1 RC2. :)

Ok, time went by and this is the new conclusion on SMF: I'm very impressed. :agree: It does indeed have a lot of things included by default. Really great stuff. Initially they're all kinda' hidden but if you play enough with the admin control panel and read on the SMF official forum, things start to reveal themselves.

Now, if only we'd be sure it won't go commercial like IPB...

I hope the same thing Dan.
We can never be positive but it would be good if they did keep it free.

Voted for vBulletin.
Maybe not the cheapest but it has a lot of features, is really secure and stable.
The vBulletin community is also really active and a lot of add-ons and skins are also available for this product.

In other word: a GREAT one.
