What do you think on website design updates?

It is better to be with templates

Agreed.. Simply updating the style sheet(s) would save quite a bit of time.
I'd say once a year, but there's no reason to fix something that's no broken.. So if you have something amazing then stick with it for as long as you can. :)

hi.............

According to my suggestion find the right design and follow them according to the follows.........rather than that change the design.............

Content should be updated frequently, but design needs to remain consistent. People need to be able to recognize your site everytime. It needs to stick with them.

Absolutely agree. Consistency in look and feel is important in branding your business. It's very important NOT to become complacent though. Determining when to put a fresh face on your business shouldn't be on a whim, whether a calculated analysis of your current market.

In the time this thread has started I've finished and now made plans for a new design of my site. Though in my case it's a bit different. I recently did some very heavy modifications to a client's WHMCS, and am getting quite a few requests, so I thought I spread my winds a bit on this one, really knock it out of the park..

For me it's more experience, fun, and very intellectually stimulating. While others get the benefit of some very useful modules to better help them run their business/site :)

My advice is, if you are going to update your website, make sure that your new design is something you wont get sick of right away then make sure again that you have enough room / space on your design in case your company starts to grow. There is nothing more annoying than a website that's trying to display too much information.

If you have really good website design, you don't need to change it even for years. If people are comfortable with it, then its better not to change. Many customers don't like changes in website cos they are used to the old ways.

But then, once in two years should be fine.
