What defines a datacenter?

Hello,

Defination of datacenter:

a physical structure, usually a stand-alone building, that is designed to house a multiplicity of computers. Data centers can be private, serving a single company or, more commonly, a public “utility” serving a variety of companies.

Well a datacenter usually is a place which sells complex computer machines for commericial purposes. They go huge backup lines to get these comps online and make it globally accessble.

For example you can check ev1servers.net, one the huge and pioneer datacenter.

Thank you.

Regards,

The key words in the definition of a datacenter is "protection" from unfavourable environmental conditionsand "management" of servers, and it's not important whether one company owns it or several. I tend to think it can't be in the basement just because it's not isolated, thereforwe can't be completely protected.
