What cell phone do you own?

http://www.mobile-review.com/review/sonyericsson-z600-en.shtml

I decided to purchase a new mobile phone, and always wanted a Sony Ericsson so decided to get a Z600. Been "playing around" with it to make sure everything works from making calls to trying out Infared and Bluetooth.

The phone itself is lovely. The screen is crisp and clear, and the colours are brilliant. The only snag is the bad reception - however other than that I've no complaints. The sound quality is brilliant too.

I decided to get a contract and go with Orange Pro, like I planned - Headache after headache. Finally today though, it has all been sorted out. Then again, that's what you pay for - I've been with other networks before such as SFR, One2One/T-Mobile and I can honestly say Orange has been the worst. The service isn't that good, and their employees are stupid - They said there was a problem with the whole network, when in fact they simply told me the wrong server address for sending and receiving MMS'.

The less said about Orange, the better.

Eitherwho, the phone is great though. Works very nicely - Thinking about whether I should have the firmware updated though since I've a pretty old version.

But certainly a thumbs up for Sony Ericsson.

Very stylish ;)
What height is that?
If anyone can find a phone that is smaller than 7.5cm in height and 4cm wide, I would be very interested to know what it is.
I haven't found a phone smaller than the one I have and I got it back in Jan this year.

That phone looks really nice, one of the best I have seen.

Sorry about bringing back and old thread, just wanted to let everyone know I got a new phone, which I love ;)

Lost my phone last weekend which caused a lot problems, had to get my old number back because I used it for business, took about 5 days to get it back but have it now plus a new phone.

Colour screen, camera, built in email client, big screen which is good for wap, photos etc.
I was going to go for a flip phone again but this one caught my eye first ;)

Thanks. I think so too; wasn't sure about the keypad at first but it's grown on me.

What height is that?
Sorry, I've no idea. What do you mean - the height when it's closed or open?

That phone looks really nice, one of the best I have seen.
Yup. :D
I think Sony Ericsson phones are a lot more stylish than other makes. I was looking into Samsung, Nokia and others.. the most functional and best looking is Sony Ericsson.

Oooh, very very nice phone John. I'd have gotten that one, however needed a clamshell.

Sony Ericsson really do make great phones. I could never go back to Nokia.

The Z600 is basically the T610, however in a clamshell with a better screen. The T630 is a great phone; has a lot more features. But I don't think photos do the Sony Ericsson phones justice. :P
Lovely phone you've got there, just lovely.

Hehe yeah I am liking it more every hour ;)

Just need to get my email working and I will be more than happy.
Couldn't work out how to setup the email for send and receive, everythign seems to be right but getting server not found error.

I was going to go for the samsung e600 flip phone but the ericsson seemed just as good and I was able to get that quicker, since I needed a phone that day I went for that.

The colour screen is amazing, didn't think the quality was so good.
Didn't think the pics from the camera would be so good either, but I haven't put them on the computer yet. (need to work out how to first :D )

I used to have a lot of phones myself, actually used to have a mobile phone company selling the phones, accessories and everything related to mobiles, could have told you everything about any phone out hehe. Don't really know what is out these days but phones are getting better all the time.

Anyone know if there is a phone out yet that has near to proper internet?
I would like something that will let me access anything online instead of just sites that work with WAP.

Can't work out how I got Hosting Refuge on my last phone, couldn't get it working on the ericsson though.

John

I think Nokia is one ofthe best makes, but they have to start changing their look to keep up with the market.
Nokia used to to the most popular model of phones, I doubt they would have the big market share they used to now.

One of the nicest phones out now has to be the Samsung E800. The buttons slide down from under the screen, looks very good.

Ahh, are you sure you're putting in all the correct info? Pretty dumb question, heh, and kinda of obvious, but you never know. Double check and make sure maybe?

You made a good choice. I don't think you'll ever regret it.

The colour screen is amazing, didn't think the quality was so good.
I know, when I got my Z600 I was also surprised at the good quality. They say that the T630 is even better though. So it must be a joy to look at all the time. :)

Didn't think the pics from the camera would be so good either, but I haven't put them on the computer yet.
That's the only bad thing about the Z600; or maybe it's just me. The camera quality on the Z600 isn't the best, but they've apparently made it a lot better on the T630. Anyway though, it's supposed to be a phone, not a camera. :P

Ahh, very nice. Then you changed to web hosting? Very interesting career change.

Don't really know what is out these days but phones are getting better all the time.
Yes, they certainly are. You plan to purchase a phone in a few months time, by the time you come to buy it, they've already released loads of phones which are all better in one way or another.

Anyone know if there is a phone out yet that has near to proper Internet? I would like something that will let me access anything on line instead of just sites that work with WAP.
That is the only problem with the majority of SE phones. However, the P series do allow the closest to proper Internet. The P800 was good, and I think they improved it a bit more with the P900. If you get it, just download and install Opera and then it's as close as real Internet as you can get.

Can't work out how I got Hosting Refuge on my last phone, couldn't get it working on the Ericsson though.
Maybe your last phone also had xHTML, and not just WAP? I know the majority of Nokia phones have xHTML - The only advantage of Nokia phones. Also, maybe contact your provider. I had to contact my provider and had them allow me to go on certain sites. Very annoying that was.

I think Nokia is one of the best makes, but they have to start changing their look to keep up with the market.
For me the problem with Nokia is not the looks, but more the features on the phone, the quality of the screen, and the "stableness" of the phone. Not only must the firmware be stable, but it must also feel like a phone which won't break to pieces after using it for a day or two. Sony Ericsson phones feel very solid, Nokia ones don't. For me that's a major problem. I need a clamshell, which not only has stable firmware, but also feels solid. Nokia is just falling behind in my opinion; they keep implementing features which don't work properly or something else rather than concentrating on solidness of the phone, and stableness of the firmware and quality of the screen (Not graphic/colour wise, but also make it easier to see in the sun. SE have done wonders with the Z600; the Nokia 3650 is awful in comparison.).

Here are my settings Anjay, they all look rght to me but might be missing something simple:

Connect Using: Genie WAP (GSM)
Protocol : POP3
Incoming Server : mail.rnhost.com
Incoming Port : 110
Mailbox : admin
Email Address : admin ]at[ rnhost.com
Download : headers and Text

Anyway though, it's supposed to be a phone, not a camera.

Your just jealous :p

Also sold them online ;) But then I started doing more online when I was working on the computer. It was a lot easier to make a profit on mobile phones years ago then now, blame eBay hehe.

No the internet on the new phone is better, I think it is a newer version of WAP. I had a samsung before this ericsson.
I think I got the site through google last time, going directly didn't work but google isn't working on the SE this time either.

There is a WAP skin for vb though so maybe that is something to look into (Already have been for about a month ;) )

Nice phone!
I like the clam shell type most, I think they are a lot better to make them compact, they aren't really thick for bring a phone folded in half ;)

Do you know the weight of that?

I saw the smallest and thinest phone I have ever seen on eBay last week, it was going for over £400 and it wasn't released yet.
had a pic and serial number etc. to prove it was real, very, very nice looking phone!

Any chance of converting that weight for me ;)
I think my last phone was around 70g, very light phone anyway.
The lighest phone I have ever used was a panasonic, it was around 60g..and that was about 18 months ago.

There is a phone called the P5 and P6, think it might be the lighest phone out now, very basic and weird looking, but good if you only want a mobile for making calls.
