What are three major criteria you use to decide upon a host?

Support, Pricing, Uptime, Features, Online duration, Reviews are some of the many criterias that help you to decide where to host your site. What are three major criteria you use to decide upon a host?

For me, I would say:

1. Solution (whether it matches the requirements)
2. Technical infrastructure (financial and technical muscle of the company)
3. Consumer feedback

Best,

If the reviews show no issues that would have me worried (with a focus on uptime, server performance and support quality), then, as long as the company offers what I need, I could use the company.

This is my take on the top 3, ranked in order:

1. Uptime/Reliability
The best support staff/department in the world doesn't do a bit of good if the server is never up and one is having to use them all the time(for things that are not the client's fault, of course). The start of a good host is a host that has servers that are online most or all of the time.

2. Proper Hardware & Backbone
Again, a server that stays up 100% of the time, but runs very slowly the rest of the time does one no good. That top tier support department doesn't mean a thing again if one doesn't have a server that performs so that your website loads quickly and efficiently.

3. Support/Human Contact
I like a host where I at least think I am reaching someone with a face and a name. I personally don't require a phone number, but I would rather wait an hour or two (on non-critical issues) for a personal and detailed reply than to get an automated and useless response back in ten minutes. I like to get to know my host's staff as much as possible, but I understand sometimes its not always an option and I'll settle for support that is there when I need it.

That's a basic look at things I like to consider the most about hosts. I think you'll quickly see the interlocking pattern that is required. I use reviews more as a means to determine what I think about the host and develop that relationship built on trust.

I agree with forumpakistan:

A good price, reliable servers, and good communication.

There are a number of smaller hosting companies (like us!) that have figured out how to keep prices low and customer satisfaction high. Longevity of a host isn't really a major factor for me. Look at how many pissed off Host Gator customers there are.

The track record is important to me. If you are into online business, your webhost can make or break your business. I am very much particular on the downtime and customer support. The monetary aspect is just secondary to me. In the first place I believe that you get what you pay for. If you get it cheap, expect a cheap service.

I will give first preference for 24 hours customer support. And next I will go with server uptime.Third preference will be Price...

1. Support
Good support is really important. What happens if their servers fail?

2. Uptime
No point in having an account, with a site you can't visit is there? ;)

3. Price
Why pay bucket loads for nothing? Make a good price.

I look for

1.Uptime
I skip the server if the uptime is less.

2.Price/Support
Basically i have seen that if you pay them they offer you good support. Both of these go hand in hand!

3.Services offered
I look at what all packages do they have to offer. The package and the support get the ball rolling for me.

Quality customer service, reliable service, and knowledgable staff. Those are my main concerns when it comes to any type of purchase, regardless of whether or not it's hosting.

Treat your customer well, and they'll love you in return with more business and the best of all things...word of mouth referrals.

Well i would suggest

1) Support : No matter Hosting Companies offer very cheap plans , the question is "Do the Hosting Company Provide 24X7 Reliable Support ?"

So support should be the topmost criterion to choose any host

2) Uptime : This is another major Aspect that should taken into consideration.

3) Feedbacks : Does your host get backs to you , to ensure everything is working fine with your site , are you facing any issues.
No matter unless you open a support ticket or get back to them on Live chat for support.
I think Hosting Company should monitor every accounts if they have any problems and contact them monthly if they are having any issues.

So the above 3 aspects should be considered while choosing any host.

I would have to go with
1, Reliabilty
2, Human Contact
3, Specifications

Cost matters, but you need to know that you are working with real people and a real compnay. Yes reveiws matter, although people only ever tend to write about the bad things that have happened, but never when they have had a Great Experience.
