What advertising works best?

Like most, we use a combination of free and non-free advertising methods. However, there really isn't any truly free advertising since you are investing your time, which inevitably translates into money. Word of mouth, email and banner ad campaigns/promotions, social networks are of the most consistent for us.

Posting in Forums is the best methods.
Or you can choose google, facebook and twitter ads as well. They are good for impressions.
SEO also doing good.

By the way guys, is partnering with affiliate networks worth it? Coz I have had an experience but end up pulling out since it is costly and does not give enough sales and ROI

Directory listing can help, you should try social media (youtube, linkedin, forums, twitter, facebook) and create great quality marketing content.
Use free and paid ads option.

I don't like facebook ads too as I personally found it's not that effective. So far forum market place is the best for free ads, google ads is good too but kinda expensive.

I'm thinking what about the directory listing, they are paid and free listing and does anyone experience it before and how efficient it can be?

Won't help you mate. Google penalized a lot of websites that got backlinks for web directories. Sure the paid ones may help a little but I still think its a waist of money overall.

I have tried Facebook ads and just hate them. I get almost no sales from the ads. I think I spent like 50 bucks and got a client who paid me like 5 bucks a month. So I spend 50 bucks to make 5 bucks. hmm. No thanks... :disagree:

You still made out if you think about it and as long as that customer stays with you. Many hosting companies will offer one year free hosting to gain customers. The first year is obviously a loss but then as long as you retain that customer you will have them for years to come. That's pretty much the nature of the beast in our present day market.

I have not used them but from what you say, I would be very hesitant to put my money on such a business model. People underestimate the power of open forums like HD etc etc But trust me they actually drive a lot of sales. We are a living testimony to this. It works.

I second this, free forum ads posting works good.

Nothing beats the good old satisfied customer review. A legitimate customers words if they are in favour can kaboom your business status

Most of our customers are word of mouth, however we are starting to pull in some new clients, not quite sure where from at the moment... I really need to add a 'how did you hear about us' box to our site.
