We use AWS for a client who is a semi-regular guest on Oprah. Any time she's about to make an appearance, we crank up the resources available for 5-7 days to handle the load, and then reduce back to normal levels.

For critical systems, our stores are either on AWS or Google Cloud. While I know some hosting companies have their own internal setups and networks, I bypass the middle man and go to the source.

@bigredseo, a slight deviation from the original thread (it's 3+ months old anyway), but it seems you are vertically scaling the resources at AWS. Try to make the website scale horizontally and setup auto scaling. Also learn about AWS Spot instances and if your client website can be made to run in AWS Spot, you will save anywhere from 70-90% of the compute!

yeah, it's a beefy setup to start with and massive load balancing and access points. They're doing just over 4 million sessions per month on a normal basis and it blows up to 15 million+ sessions during appearances.
