VPS backup to HDD

Now a days its much more easier to manage vps. We use virtualizor to manage our vps and it seems to be fine by now.

As others have stated, if you've got cPanel/WHM, there's no reason not to use the WHM backup feature. They recently redid it, and it's even more user friendly now. You can make this backup to a local hard drive, or you can use FTP or SCP to get the files elsewhere (or you can rsync the local backups elsewhere).

VPS backup to HDD

Hey guys, I just have a quick question, since all of you are smart with this type of stuff.

I own a VPS, and I because I have alot of information on there, I want the backups to run via my HDD. Is this possible?

It doesn't matter if it's manually or automatic. I just want to know if there's a software out their that basically downloads my backups from my Linux VPS to my HDD via my windows computer..

Thanks for your help.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

If you're running OpenVZ you can tar your entire VPS directory then download it straight off your VPS from SFTP.

I would ask your host about managed backups - which may be a cheap and cost effective option as most hosts will provide an SLA with the backup service, alternatively having some software to back it up onto your HHD may be a good option.

A third would be asking your host if you can take snapshots of your VPS and therefore store the snapshot on the cloud or on cheap storage, this way if a file fails you literally restore the snapshot.
