Unlimited space and bandwidth is unrealistic

well i agree with you that unlimited <<URL removed>> space feature is just to make fool people, but unlimited bandwidth is possible, I am getting this feature and happy with the service provider, my website never go down because of bandwidth limit

This shows a fundamental lack of understanding of the meaning of unlimited.

I can go to a buffet and eat until I can eat no more. That doesn't mean the food will never run out.

Unlimited does not exist. Period.

Just because your website never goes down does not mean that unlimited bandwidth is possible - it only means you haven't exceeded your hosts comfort level with your traffic or exceeded their TOS limits, or the uplink port speed on the server your website is hosted on. For example, if the uplink port speed on your webserver is 100Mbps, you will max out at just over 30 terabytes of bandwidth (which is a finite limit).

There is no such thing as unlimited, there just is not. There is unmetered, but unlimited disk space, well common sense should tell everyone that this doesn't exist.

Unlimited anything is unrealistic. As is an "all you can eat" buffet. Why should we look at it any different in the hosting industry? There's always going to be those few people who get 10 plates and mite even stuff their bag with rolls. But the restaurant still makes money and most people are satisfied with what they get vs what they pay.

So I'll ask again, why should we look at it any different in hosting?

Want to know something even more funny? That many of these hosts who are offering unlimited bandwidth and storage space, are often also the same ones who offer far less space than people without those claims!

I don't quite understand what you're saying. Are you implying they have sister companies offering less, that they provide less bw/storage to theri unlimited customers than those who don't oversell, or something else?

that's one of marketing strategy that they do it..unlimited means they have unlimited for accept all user who want to host with them..

The fact is which kind of small business site could use more than 500GB storage? The "unlimited shared hosting" is so cheap that it fits to personal and small business sites. If you need a real high quality server, you could buy VPS or just a server. Notice the price!

Yep, unlimited is impossible. People seeking a host new or old (experience wise) should run away from those who offer unlimited space or bandwidth.

Ya but, it is cheap too, and they responded promptly to my email.

Are you telling me this deal it too good to bear out under long use?????

:confused::shocked:

Trust me. you will never see the unlimited resources they promise you. Never trust a host who lies to your face.

They will never let you use 300GB space and 1TB bandwidth for $3.99 per month. For $3.99 per month you can expect to get 5-7GB space and 25GB-50GB bandwidth.

Well it is actually, 15.95 per month and the plan underneath it, at 10.95 is set at 50GB of space and 300GB traffic. So is that also 'reasonable'?

But I have a 'warm' feeling about them!

Does that count for anything?

My experience with other hosts is generally lackluster or even negative. :smash:

And despite all the fine comments by you probably far more experienced folks, I can see why it would work. :agree:

Human psychology, 90% sign up and do nothing or near nothing. :D

All sales are sizzle based where only the few come up to eat.

10.95 is set at 50GB of space and 300GB traffic is kind of reasonable. Some hosts can make a profit off this, some can not. So, if this is overselling all depends on the host.

Though I think 10.95 for 50 GB space and 300 GB traffic is still kinda overselling. It's quite difficult to make a profit off such a price.

And if their policies are not listed on their site, don't be shy about asking them for a copy. If the TOS is vague, ask questions.
