UK Teens Sentenced After Hacks Shut Down Web Host

Hmm.. sadly these guys will probably go on to get successful careers as security advisers. However this seems to me like they were doing a little more than just hacking. I mean laundering money? Definitely should have gotten maybe 3-5 years in prison. But I think the problem here is that crimes committed in cyberspace are still relatively new, where as bank robbery has been going on for hundreds of years (thus the stronger punishment).

Can these teens not be pursued in civil litigation - for monetary damages? Possibly a lien on future earnings?

Sorry but they put their brains to bad use, they must have been good at it, but not so good to get caught.

And it also shows that security is key, and clearly the hosting company had not much of a brain to secure their servers at least, it was even out right there, no firewall, no protection, no nothing.

Teens or not they should get worse treatment.

Well, when a genius do bad things, no one should praise or even his/her brain captivity. Only option should be punishment.
