Hello,

Can anyone share their tips and experience about searching and selecting the right web hosting provider? I want to share it with my blog visitors.

Here are important points you should consider before choosing the Hosting Provider -
  • Speed and Performance
  • Server Security
  • Backups
  • Bandwidth
  • RAM
  • Storage
  • Technical Support
  • Scalability
  • Server Location
  • Pricing
  • Operating System Options
  • Cancellation and Refund Policy
  • Server Migration
  • Number of website Hosting

To know much better about which web hosting provides the best service, you have to google for this or visit this site. There have a lot of reviews and articles on this.
First of all never trust reviews from websites doing reviews, most of them are paid so is irrelevant. It is simple, choose one that has refund policy on money back and test it. Test how fast they respond to a ticket and you'll realize if worth it. But like I said never trust paid reviews !!!

I think you can just start with the free subdomain that providers offer and even have a 30-day money-back guarantee, then experience the network performance, support expertise, uptime rate,...After all, you will have the right decision.

I think something people overlook is "time in business" how long have they been around?

I'm always a bit amused by this one. I just run through the little thing in my mind that if nobody should buy from a business that hasn't been around for at least a year (or other random amount of time) then how the hell is the business expected to last for that long in the first place.

True. But, that is just a single factor to take into account with many others. I wouldn't discount a business solely based on that single criteria.

A long business record is key. A public statement that discloses the Infrastructure and software automation platform in use is also a good sign.

A long business record is key.

This is a constant answer on every forum where you see this question, as already above in this discussion, and every time I see it irritates me.

The quality and value of a company is not determined by how long they have existed. You can be an old company with bad service or a young startup that delivers excellent service.

Well, there are countless web hosting provider are available and choosing one among all is something little tough task.
Therefore, you should keep the given factors into consideration before selecting the hosting company:
1. Reliability
2. Technical support
3. Control Panel
4. Payment
5. Server Features
6. Server Location

Essentially it all comes down to what fits your needs as well.

For example, somebody above mentioned control panel...

We have a lot of clients who wanted WordPress, or another CMS or forum software installed for them, and have never logged into a control panel, they don't know or care if we use cPanel or Plesk or ISPConfig or whatever else.

A couple of other people mentioned operating system options...

The vast majority of people who want to host a simple personal or business website really have no interest in whether their site runs on AlmaLInux, Debian, Ubuntu, or any other Linux distro. They care that it's stable and secure and that the people who are administering the server know what they are doing.

On the other hand if you are taking an unmanaged VPS or dedicated server then the choice of distro is probably a lot more important to you.

I will share my checklist for choosing the right hosting provider. Although this is not an exhaustive list given that certain hosting providers are simply out of question, this list might help in identifying some key must-have features.

  1. Underlying infrastructure. (own data centers, cloud providers like DigitalIOcean, Google, or AWS)
  2. Availability of data centers. (the number does not matter here, location does. )
  3. Shared, VPS, Container-based. (I usually do not recommend shared for many obvious reasons)
  4. Hosting platform. (Cpanel, Plesk, or custom platform.)
  5. Budget. (important but you should decide the trade-off between the cost and features)
  6. Check availability. (check or ask for their server availability stats. 99% is very common these days).
  7. Scalability. (hosting provider SHOULD support scalability and it's a good one if it offers auto-scaling features too)
  8. Support. (live chat support is great)

Hello, probably the most important criteria for choosing a hosting will be:
Server speed, ping, payment methods for this hosting (and sometimes there are not enough payment methods on the hosting provider's website), round-the-clock technical support, reviews, affordable prices (not overpriced)

What about customers' support? It is a good idea to speak to a web host's representative to make sure that you'll receive exactly what you need. Experts are needed to help with everything customers may need.

While choosing any hosting provider , remember the below points:
Test out their customer service. For this, you can take the free trial offered by the hosting provider.
Compare hosting plans from various providers.
check their reviews on Google
Read their terms and conditions
check are they providing money back guarantee
elaborate hosting plans and check whether they fulfill your needs or not.
