startlogic.com

I actually just wrote a review about startlogic, but I guess it wasn't posted it. (maybe it has to be reviewed)

Everything was good. (I especially liked that you can pay monthly)
However, I had some problems when I wanted to cancel my account.

Yes, reviews are moderated, but they will not be validated if the review format is not followed. You can find it in the Web Hosting Review forum Sticky Thread: http://www.hostingdiscussion.com/web-host-reviews/9256-aug-16-2006-read-before-posting-review.html

Ain't that the familiar story? :D

It looks like a very legitimate site. The prices are extremely reasonable and the pictures of actual support people give you a very good sense of comfort. Just make sure you read the TOS and fine print. Usually when you get as much space and bandwith as that, there are some type of limitations.

I guess I agree with RyanL, and this applys for most hosts (especially big ones)
They oversell and have stupid rules such as CPU usage. Although they give you 1000GB of BW or so, you can't nearly use that much with the CPU % they give you.

startlogic.com is not a bad company. You may use it not being afraid of being cracked. Their support works maybe not very quick as I'd like but still.

That site always ranks ************ and hostexcellence as #1 and #2 or vice versa. AFAIK they're both owned by the same person, and at least at some point there was indirect reason to believe that "chart" site is owned by the same person.

I don't know if they are owned by the same people but as with the majority of the so called directories out there this was seems to have a direct correllation between the ranking of the host and how much they pay out in affiliate fees.

Never :smash: How could you say such a thing ;)

Not really. Last I checked, ************ and Hostexcellence were linked via redirects, while the other hosts are linked to via affiliate redirects. Which is why their continual listing as top seem suspicious to me.

Ok.. let me give u a detail feed back about them

I have a site hosted with them. I got the account when they use to offer 5GB space with 50GB bandwidth. At that time, their support was good if not excellent. I didn’t have any big problem and everything seemed to be perfect.

Their support is “Horrible” now, most of the time you have to wait 20-30 minutes to get an operator and even then at the end he will simply say “Please open a supporting ticket”
And you will be lucky if you will ever get the answer of the question asked, and even more lucky if you got a reply within 12 hours. Bad thing started with them when I star hitting “max_questions” limit even when my daily visitors was around 200. And it took them a month (40 days) to got it solved.. (Their limit was set on Daily bases as opposed to hourly bases as they claim. Don’t know if it was just me or everyone one same server). You can’t even schedule a corn job properly. Their control panel VDeck allows you to run a job once in 24 hours.

The Only good thing, which perhaps is my luck that the uptime is always 99.9%. (May be I am on a good server) Apparently I renewed my plan when they were running 15GB offer and I was told that my account will get update, but still I am on the old package. Doesn’t matter to me that much as i m waiting for the right time to move..

Well, I will suggest you to find a good host and increase your budget if you want to get that much space & bandwidth. (no good host will ever get you that much space & bw for such a price) Host with them ONLY if you think you will not need support and you will not be using any script causing SQL queries. With “Every day low price” they have gone to “Every day low standard”

Just my $0.2 ..

I was under the impression startlogic was owned by ipower? I remember someone mentioning that to me once, but I don't know if it's true or not.

yeah i recommend startlogic. big and reliable. they have their own datacenter. so one of advantages for hosting companys.

They are good, and reliable and answer support emails fast. If I am not mistaken, they and Ipowerweb are actually in cooperation with each other but under different managements, so they can be regarded as completely two different hosting companies.
