Some unique promotions you've run or seen

I've seen my share of promotions, but some have really stood out over the years.

A great door-to-door promotion was recommended to me by a very successful sales representative. She had prospects pick a card from a deck, then posted the winner for the matching card weekly on her website’s blog. Her prospects absolutely remembered her and quite often visited her company's site, increasing her odds of making that sale.

Your thoughts?

In late 90s/early 00s, when shared hosting plans could easily cost hundreds of dollars a year, I remember how aggressive some companies were on promotions. One such company (kill me but I forgot its name) even had one of the worst reputations in the business because it had a son-mother team that sued anyone who would as much as leave a bad review...

Besides the point, these companies had all kinds of gifts: gadgets, vacation packages, Google vouchers, SEO services that they would add to an annual package.

As a newbie, I was massively drawn to those companies because they really gave away real things other companies didn't. In my mind, all companies were about the same, so why would I not sign up with the one that offered the most bang for the buck.

Nowadays, I'd think a 50% discount coupon to a solid hosting company would be the best gift to an educated consumer, or a free physical upgrade in RAM/space/etc. But I would equally appreciate a free SEO consultation, maybe a few custom articles offered to be written for your blog. Something that you know will be a nice foundation for your business.

Can't say I've seen any good ones recently. I remember some in the past with anything from free dinners to movie nights etc - but it's hard to find a good promo (beyond the coupon as Artashes mentioned).

Unrelated to web hosting, but in my country, some delivery shops are offering free masks along with the delivery , which is good since the pandemic is here
