should we have a national 'No Computer Day'

Are you taking your wife and kids too?

just me as someone needs to keep an eye on my hosting clients.

when i say camping, its a small log cabin, but no tv/radio etc. their is about 6 cabins in the area, so like a little community, its a nice refreshing break from the outside world to recharge the batteries

An entire day?! I could have done that earlier on, but not anymore. I have too much going on via the Internet to skip even a single day. Having said that, I did miss one day last week to attend an event in Nebraska. :)

i guess you had your phone, so if needed could be contacted.

we could get the texting services shut down and then see the reaction of all teenagers when they realise they have to move their mouths and talk to each other.

They would absolutely freak out, haha. I have heard of families texting each other within the same house. Definitely in favor of parents being in control over their kids usage!

It's funny how social media is in many ways anti-social. At the risk of sounding old, I will admit that I never had a phone or computer until after I graduated high school, and when I was a kid I went outside and played with my friends.

i passed a group of teenagers the other day and they seems to be just texting each other, and they all looked like expensive smartphones, most likely contract in their parents name.

yes this is what i used to do when i was a kid, outside with a football, but now they just stay indoors with the latest xbox or whatever the latest thing is these days

And it was so great meeting with you and chatting for a while about all sorts of stuff. Too bad the event itself wasn't as successful as last year, but that's how events go sometimes :(

None the less, you got an escape from the daily grind, a few coffee's, a glimps into my life (and what I have to put up with.. [ahem.. kim]), and then a wonderful parting gift - a touch of a cold :)

--- on a side note, I did get things checked out, and my deal was sinus stuff, so it could have been the drive that wore down your system :)

A national no computer day is alright, as long as it's optional. Complete shutdown would be quite impossible to cope with in today's time.

I say no, because computers play a essential part of our lives. Think about hospitals for example. You can't just pull the plug on a all of the patients for "no computer day". Silly.
