Should reseller accounts have there own server?

Yes, that's true. The natural life-cycle of a reseller host has them starting with a reseller plan, then eventually upgrading to a dedicated server, then adding additional servers, etc... as they grow.

I believe the "goal" of most web hosting resellers is indeed to grow their business..... and reseller plans can only take you so far.

I think resellers should have a dedicated server. Because you would only be able to offer so little if its on a shared plan, or you would be overselling - big time.

So yes, resellers should have a dedicated server if they want to offer a good ammount of space/ bandwidth ect.

If resellers all had dedicated servers, then there would be no customers for reseller plans :)

The reality is, reseller plans cost a fraction of what a dedicated server costs, and there's a lot less to manage. So starting our with a reseller plan is usually the best bet in terms of cost, and being hassle-free.

Again... resellers can always upgrade to a dedicated server later, if their growth justifies it.

exactly i totally agree i think having about 70 clients on a reseller is sufficient too start considering a dedicated server

We are hosting more then 1000 reseller in our servers. Motive of Reseller accounts for Resellers is to start their hosting business with minimum investment. Here they can use our all 18 servers to host their end-users’ sites within a reasonable budget and earn profit out of the same.

This is probably first step if someone want to get enter in hosting business, with reseller account he don’t have to manage servers for his clients, as hosting company is doing it for him. As he expends his business with new users he can upgrade his resources and finally if he wants to run a specific software/application or if he is hosting a high traffic site, which can create any trouble to our shared customers, we suggest shifting him on a dedicated server.

Yes, Reseller accounts must be put on seperate servers. I've worked a couple of hosting companies and some customers take full advantage of "Unlimited Domain Hosting". It's better to be safe than sorry.

This is an on going problem, people selling resellers oversell servers, a few months, years down the road the server lags forever. You are better to get a dedicated server if you start to prosper!

I think it should be up to the owner of the hosting company. If they feel they can successfully balance both on one server, hell why not?
