i dont use any shortcut urls , but i'v myself encountered a lot of tinyurls . Yes they are used for long urls.

I personally don’t use them and I do not particularly like clicking on them either as to many people use them to hide their affiliate links etc.

This is a home run shot :bouncy: I agreed with your comment. IMO short URL function is only for tweety birds.

On twitter yes, but otherwise not really. We setup our own system though so we don't need to go through bit.ly and the like.

I forgot to mention that I use WordPress plugin that shorten URLs of comments. It is much more elegant to have shorter text that won't break your theme design.

I had that plugin but don't remember what happened I lost it
