James, that's probably how it should be, but I can't argue with the success that GoDaddy has had with their latest campaign. Of course you have to market to your target audience.
Sex may sell, but it really depends on who the target market is. Some people may find suggestive marketing to be something that makes them NOT want to use the Web host, although it no doubt will attract others to do the opposite. Marketing people should pay more attention to what their target market looks for and is attracted to, and not just try to use sex appeal for everything.

Every market has a target that's for sure. But just like in google, being #1 isn't always the best as there's a lot of competition for that spot. Being Number 4 or 5 is just as good in many cases.
Of course when it comes to TV, Radio or Magazines (even some websites), being #1 is ALL that matters.
I'd love to see a Christian Bookstore do some adverse advertising
