Server Backups

+1 for R1 soft backup. We are using it for ages and it never let us down in any instance so far.
It will take care of back up for both files and databases.
 
If you look to be a reliable host and to make serious business, you must have all backup of your servers.
R1Soft is a really efficient software, easy to manage and most importantly, backup all the server.
 
We are having R1soft backup provided by data center as well as we do have remote backup server managed at different location for disaster recovery options.
 
Even if your provider says we take daily or weekly backups, i would still say TAKE YOUR OWN. rempote bacup to a specialist backup service or get your own second server to use as a backup server. as i remember when i first started with a VPS my provider stated that they took daily backups. i would backup my own sites and told my clients to make their own backups. this was OK until the host had issuews with their DC and told me they were moving to a better DC but i would need to pay an extra 30% more, which i refused to do, so he told me no problem and offered to provide me with the most recent backup of my VPS, which as they stated they took daily backups i thought great just a days work lost no real issue. so they provided this which i provided to my new suplier to upload which they did but the backup was actually 6 months out of date, so i contacted the old host who told me that they gave me their most recent Backup so, they never replied to me when i asked them what happened to the daily backups they stated they were doing. neither to say my clients were not happy. now as my current host does daily backups ( i know they do) i still backup my own servers to a 3rd party backup service along with my own VPS that i set up as a backup server
