Questions About Virtualizor's Legacy Backup Option

Hi everyone,

I hope you're all having an amazing day!

I wanted to gather some insights regarding Virtualizor's legacy backup option:

  1. Does the legacy backup option support incremental backups? For instance, if I have a VPS where the initial automated backup is 20GB and the next backup taken the following day is only 10GB, can you confirm if this is how it operates?
  2. Regarding end-user backups, I have configured it so that users can take up to 3 backups per month, with a total retention of 3 backups for each VPS. If a client takes 3 backups in a month and then an automated backup also takes 3, will the automated backups override the end-user backups, or will they be retained separately?
Thank you all for your insights on these questions!

Hey

Given your configuration, the automated backups should not override the end-user backups directly. The system should retain each type of backup separately. However, if the retention limit for user backups is reached, older user-initiated backups might be deleted, regardless of the automated backups.
  • If the total number of backups (user + automated) exceeds the retention limit (3 backups), the system will manage the retention based on your configuration, often deleting the oldest backup first.
It’s important to verify the exact behavior with your version of Virtualizor or by checking the documentation, as the exact handling can vary depending on updates or specific settings you’ve applied.

You may also want to back up of site as well. You want to use Carbonite they have good pricing for different tiers of back up service.
