This is a great discussion. We are just about to start selling domains as well as hosting. I think we are going to be taking the hire price root since we imagine our existing customers will be happy to pay a bit more thus keeping domains and hosting together.
As others have mentioned it's always a good idea to offer a free domain with plans paid annually.
