Open source Hosting Control Panel

The main issue to consider is how long a (free) web based control panel has been around and if it is being updated on a regular basis. Security exploits happen a lot of times due to neglected software and vulnerabilities not being patched up...

We vote for Webmin/Virtualmin for free control panels.

This reminds me how much I like Interworx. They acknowledge security breaches typically within a day and patch them completely within a couple days. Compare that to any other control panel provider and you will understand how great that is.

Also I'd like to point out that paid Control Panels don't have to be expensive. Some hosts offer different options for free with dedicated servers. :shh:

Personally I have used kloxo and webmin. Kloxo comes with some bugs while webmin is complete package for server admin only.

The best open source control panel for Linux based Operating systems is Zpanel, WebMin and Ajenti.

For Windows based Operating systems, WebsitePanel has no match.

There are many free alternatives such as:
- ISPConfig *TOP*
- Webmin/Virtualmin *TOP*
- Sentora
- Kloxo
- VestaCP

Yes there are many,

The most 2 known are Webmin & Virtualmin. I think you should go for one of them.

They also have pretty good interface too.

A client of ours a few months back wanted the same thing and despite advice to pay for cpanel we had no option but to go with his demand and went Zpanel. It does the Job perfectly but then the client got 48 clients to host and they started demanding for Cpanel and therefore a migration was inevitable but you will not like the work load of getting just those 48 clients with all their emails and data. I would still advise like I did before, pay the few coins for Cpanel if you intend to use it for commercial reasons.
