Namecheap vs. GoDaddy

I will always remember how godaddy got IP changes to my domain nameservers stuck in a software glitch and didn't fess up to the troubles until after my fourth call to tech support and on day two of the problem. It took a couple of days to sort out right in the middle of some important changes for us. That's how I ended registering and using to this day the .net version of my domain.

Because the godaddy tech was not upfront with me about the problems I dropped them like a sack of hot potatoes, I have used Namecheap.com ever since and have used their tech support with excellent results.

Of all the DNR companies around, Godaddy is by far the worst.

I have used Namecheap. It is reliable and responsive, though their DNR interface can be alittle confusing at times.

Enom is still the best choice; in terms of bulk discounts vs. reliability, and its user interface.

As for NameCheap, the fact that I have never had to contact their support speaks highly of the level of their service. And yet its also the only factor that prevents me from knowing exactly what their service is like. In other words, I won't know until I get to contact them when I have an issue. :D

To be fair, I thought I would update my own post. I actually had to contact NameCheap recently with a request to take notice of a failed domain transfer request down as it was annoying and always would alarm me I had a domain in transfer. They did so quite effectively.

Namecheap have the nicer control panel! I dont really like Godaddy control panel. Its up to which control panel you think is easier to use.

GoDaddy also has my vote, I use them exclusively when possible (sometimes purchasing existing domains prevents that). Their checkout process and web site in general is atrocious, one big attempt to sell you garbage add-on services but once you're used to it you don't even notice.

While GoDaddy tends to have cheaper prices, I prefer NameCheap as the user interface is very effective and so far I've yet to hear a legitimate complaint towards them whereas with GD I've heard several "horror stories".
