Managed or unmanaged VPS?

I would always say to opt for managed. As a provider, all of the managed VPSs are plumbed into the alerting system and we can foresee trends and avoid issues. i.e. inform customers they need to increase disk-space or add memory etc before resources are all exhausted. This is not always taken kindly by the end user, but then you can't force them to upgrade, even when they should.
Exactly. I have always gone with managed servers, even though I know my way around a server, especially when I am only 1 man, so I know if I need help I have it available, but I have had cases where a provider has informed me of an issue before I have noticed this myself.

If you look for unmanaged VPS hosting the important part is you need prior knowledge and experience to manage your VPS.
While on other hand it is best choice to go with managed VPS if you are beginner.

According to my experience, there is no such thing as a free lunch in the hosting industry; if your unmanaged VPS costs around $10, a managed VPS costs around $40, and this cost varies by nation; therefore, if you select unmanaged VPS hosting, you should have prior knowledge; otherwise, you can outsource your help to a tech-support company.

include a control panel to make your life easier . no need to mess with command line . stop, start, restart service through a web browser.

if one had the time to learn about system administration, then unmanaged vps will be ideal but do not use it on production server. maybe start as a hobby and then move on. the last resort is definitely getting an experience tech support company to do all the chore .

a simple solution is if you have no or little experience get a Managed VPS for production purposes and then pick up a cheap $5 unmanaged VPS and install a free control panel like centos web panel, you can then practice and learn how to run and maintain a VPS without causing any issues with your production server.

What VPS would you like to have - managed or unmanaged?
First, it depends on your own knowledge if you are familiar with the server then I will go for an unmanaged server. If you are new to it then go for the managed server the hosting provider will help you with it. They will at least give a proper solution or and get your query sorted from their end.
