Looking for Advertising Genius

Try A, B & C under the same campaign and see which gets the best click-thru rates. All of them are good - I like the "$0.00 Domain" - catchy :) Be sure to have "$0.00" somewhere on your site or Google will shut off the ad. If you make a $$ or "free" claim in your ad, people have to be able to get to that exact text within 2 clicks.

Best of luck!!

Hey All,

I've been reading through this discussion, and I've noticed it's primarily about CPC advertising. I'd maybe suggest straying from the Google/Overture CPC methods--personally I hate them and have a policy nearly banning them from Site5's advertiting mix. While they produce results that are very predictable, they represent near-perfect economic pricing, which means that you're stuck making almost no economic profit (and especially for a smaller host, it could equate to a loss).

Certainly Google and Overture have their places and are very good for supporting stable expansion, however you're stuck bidding against people who very likely have lower costs of doing business due to economies of scale (it just costs them a lot less to add a hosting customer!)

Consider the average web hosting buyer is probably exposed to over a hundred companies before they actually purchase. The focus should be on doing something that will make your name stand out from the masses... differentiation is a pillar of marketing--especially in a market as saturated as web hosting.

Keep up the good discussion!

Matt

Yes, his advice is good. CPC (especially with Google and Overture) seem to be best for those willing to be loss leaders. In one project, I'm finding that the "big fish" in the industry (and a couple of others) are a subsidiary of a much larger company and can be a loss leader in general and it definitely trickles down to the HUGE amount they are willing to pay for a click to be on top.

I happen to be a "loss loser" rather than "loss leader" so when I lose I lose! So I don't play much in that field for my own projects.

Ah good old performance marketing!! Until late last year I worked for one of the biggies in that arena. I've since taken a lot of hot showers lol

That would be rather difficult to state in public. The internet marketing space is just sometimes a little bit tricky that's all. All providers have their positive and negative aspects.

There are tons of places about advertising. You have to select your best model first : Cost per click (CPC), Cost per ad (CPA), Cost per sale (CPS).

Here are some ways :
* Joining affiliate networks and seeking reliable partners on databases
* Hiring an information architect for your website and asking help from him/her about usability and findability then find only 3 client for your site. Word of mouth will be the winner.
* Send your all money into low quality CPM and process the traffic came from the CPM publishers. --- Wasted time ---
* Join an e-mail marketing database, send spam free e-mail for targeted visitors. Still you need to handle coming traffic.

Forget about spam-free e-mail marketing. It is all scam business held by spammers. If you want to use mailing-lists you have to be create your own. Also you can not sell these e-mails to third parties unless your user's agreement on his/her privacy.
