Looking for Advertising Genius $300 to who can help

Hey,

I posted on another part of the site that I am looking for a advertising guru. I am currently running Overture and Google ad campaigns. I was wondering if anyone else knew any other places that are good to advertise. I am advertising for hosting clients obvously. So far the community has been very helpful with this. I hope I can get some more support and a opinions.

Here is my google adwords listing

Affordable Hosting
$7.95/Mo - Free Domain, 300MB Space
3GB Bandwidth, 24/7/365 Support.
IntegraHost.com

Any better way to lay it out you guys think?

Looks like you might get lost among the others if you were going for "Affordable Hosting" as the keywords. My immediate thought was to work the free domain idea into the bold text (maybe Affordable Hosting Free Domain or the price in there as others have, or whatever niche you are looking to hit.

If you are looking to compete on price, put the price in there. If you are looking to entice people with the free domain, put that in the bold title. If you want the support to be the "pull" move something about it up there.

I'm assuming some price point competition due to "affordable" being in there.

Hosting - Free Domain

Better? Your limited to characters on title

IMHO - you'll need to go for a niche. There are about 10,000 web hosts out there who advertise "affordable hosting" - you need to give people a real reason to click on YOUR ad as opposed to everyone else's.

Maybe... if you offer Fantastico, you could advertise under the individual apps that it installs. Or, focus on your specialties - true 24/7 support, ecommerce integration, or some of the other things you list on your site.

It's tough these days to advertise for hosting these days - it's so easy to get lost in the pile. I still think word of mouth or referrals is the best bet.

Hope that's helpful in SOME way.

As for Overture, I have been waiting 3 days for them to fix a problem THEY made. There customer service is 1 our 10. I am ashamed of Yahoo.

As a rule of thumb, you can expect the following for Google/Overture:

- 2% Clickthrough rate.
- Of those clicks, maybe 2% will convert to sales.

This is what I get, or better, when I run campaigns for my customers in non-hosting related industries.

However, with web hosting - the market is so flooded that you'll get even less than that. This is what I've gotten with Google/Overture

- 0.1% Clickthrough rate.
- Of those clicks, 0.28% converted to sales

Do the math on your max cpc of $3 - OUCH!

Like I said - it's so painfully difficult with Overture/Google that I barely do it for hosting anymore. I'm working on getting partnerships with other web design firms, community business groups (like the BBB) and etc.

Your other option is to save your $$ and just purchase clients from a host that goes out of business. www.buysellhost.com is a good place to list, and some forums have listings of clients for sale. You'll pay $15-$25 per client in a sale like that, as opposed to around $100 for Overture/Google advertising.

Or - advertise in forums like this one! There are a lot of people looking for hosting who browse these forums.

Oh - and I have NEVER received a sale through Overture for hosting. Don't bother with them - their service is a joke!!

Generally:
- Google searchers: doing research
- Yahoo/MSN (Overture): purchasing goods

People looking for hosting look at maybe 30-40 different hosts before they make a decision, so Google is the way to go. If you're selling flashlights, advertise on Overture.

It all depends how far up you want to be in the list of advertisers and how much you're willing to spend per conversion. You can use Google's traffic estimator to see an estimate of where you'll be placed. But to be #1 in a GENERAL hosting category you have to pay like $5-$10 per CLICK! The big boys can handle that, but most can't.

Your best bet is still go for the more obscure terms. You will have lower IMPRESSIONS, but a MUCH higher click through rate. It's more targeted.

Check my first post in this thread. It really depends on your business - you know it better than I do. If you're in Kansas, maybe bid on "Kansas web hosting." Or if you offer 24/7 support, bid on "web hosting support." There are a thousand ways to go at it. Try using Overture's keyword suggestion tool that shows how many people search for a specific word or phrase to get an idea of what an "obscure" term is. "affordable hosting" had around 35,000 searches for it last month on Overture - multiply that by 5 to get the total searches across all engines. And with a term like that, to be #1, ipower.com is bidding $18.00 per click!!!

But "Kansas web hosting" had around 90 searches on overture last month. Get to #1 on THAT term, and it will probably cost you $0.99 per click, and you'll have great exposure.

The thing to remember is: 50% of searches on search engines are unique searches - meaning they aren't common phrases such as "affordable hosting", the are things like "web hosting with free domain registration in kansas."

If you can find un-common terms or phrases that describe your offering, you will have better results. You can spend weeks on this and you will burn your brain and get an ulcer doing it, so be prepared for the long haul :)

Hope all this helps - best of luck with it :D
