Linux OR Windows?

Linux is free for desktop or home use. Linux is freely available through open source under Gnu license. So basically Linux is cost effective than windows, its much more secure and has more stability than windows. In hosting business the market share of linux is high compared to windows because of these features. Windows is expensive and is good for personal or home use.

I also prefer linux over Windows. I think it runs much easier and smoother. Plus, Anything to move us away from Microsoft

Ah to be free of MS....but then what would all of the home users do without their Windows?

As basic as it may seem to us, most people have no desire to get into Linux to learn it etc. I guess we can all thank Bill for making things overly simple in an overly complicated way... ;)

I'm not fond of Microsoft - infact I want to buy a Mac. However, without this PC I don't know what I'd do. So many sites are built with Windows in mind, and same with programs, and video games. It's sad - but the world needs Windows.

That's true, but I will always be a Mac person in my heart. I remember when I had a little SE/30 (30 was the MBs of the hard drive - HUGE back then :-) ) and it would do anything I wanted. Since you said earlier you aren't old enough to get lottery tickets, I doubt you remember those days - LOL!

Yep - I'm 14 so I don't remember such days, though I almost got a Mac Classic for $15 at a local thrift store ;)

RE: Linux Or Windows?

All of our servers are Windows 2003 SP1, we have found it to be every bit as stable and secure as any *nix based OS. Don't believe the hype...

linux 4 life I Dont know why I have to explain it is most stable and secure platform there is, dont have to worry about virus's and it is easy to detect trojans. I will never go windows period.

I would go with red hat as the keep coming out with great security fixes, patches and mods ... plus its alot cheaper than windows pound for pound.

Linux Preffered

I like linux hosting as it is quite more safe and secure in all respects that in windows. In linux we can handle all the issues in a simple way, and find solutions to all the errors that do come out. There is also no fear of your files being corrupted or infected by a virus
