Life is unpredictable.

Michael, I'll probably be heading to Cuba with my girlfriend sometime at the end of summer (late July, beginning of August). I want to repeat my trip to Melia Varadero resort, which was fantastic. I'll let you know exactly later on, so if you are in the neighborhood, we'll definitely meet up.

dubs, I'm not that good really, just playing for the level of Top 50-60 in Canada. I was sponsored before though by Nike.

Glad you're feelin' better Art. What are you doing to pass the time at home recovering? Hope you were able to have someone run out and at least get ya a few movies! :)

Tried to book a flight to Cuba with Expedia:

Why does everyone want to go to cuba???

Because it's one of the most beautiful countries on the planet and the Cuban people are among the friendliest on the planet.

Are they really, I have never had any experiences with them, but I assumed that it would be similar to Mexico, where there are people on the streets with shops hounding you to come in and take a look. Learn something new every day I guess.

I didn't have anyone hounding me to come in the shops when I was in Mexico. I didn't have anyone run up asking for money either. I did, however, mix up my Spanish and instead of asking where the men's restroom was I asked where the beer for the men was. I felt like such an ass.

Cubans are friendly with great warm hearts. Not to mention Cuban Jazz is one of my favorite Jazz styles. You can't fly down from US, but we, Canadians, can fly anywhere. 4 hours and we are on a white sand drinking fresh fruit shake.

Exon, I got some complications after surgery that I'm trying to heal right now. Will take additional 2-3 weeks. I will also have to retake 2 of the classes that I missed (I was supposed to graduate last semester). I spend most of the time in bed, working and my girlfriend comes over with DVDs that we watch almost every day.

Best,

Its totally against US law or policy or something ... but I have friends from the USA fly to Canada and then fly to Cuba. Apparently Cuba doesn't ban Americans ... its the USA restricting its citizens ;) But my friends tell me they will get into trouble if the government ever finds out they go to Cuba. With the advent of more computerized tracking going in and out of the USA ... I wonder how they get the border agents from seeing the entry stamps on their passports and not keeping a record of it.

Art ... complications? Nothing too serious I hope. When I had my "go round" with it I got lesions from the incision to the intestines. Thats why I suggested lots of walking. At the time (25 years ago) the docs told me if I walked more the lesions would not have formed ... and it was also their "treatment" to get rid of them ;).

Feel better
Peter

That is a very dark secret.

The Cuban officials won't stamp an American passport. They stamp the mandatory tourist card.
Cuba and Cuban people welcome Americans and all others with open arms. Americans are not allowed to go there because of the state department and the "trading with the enemy" laws.

Technically you can go to Cuba if you are an American you just have to be able to prove that you didn't spend any money there.

And how would you prove that you didn't spend any money? No what...clothes coming back with you? No souveniers? Or do you just not give them any receipts? :-p

You out of diapers yet dubs?

One of my kids ever talked like that to anyone I'd smack 'em upside the head.

I wasn't.

But pulling the train back onto the tracks - how's Art doing? Any good movie recomendations? The latest movie I saw was The Pacifier - which was pretty good.
