is it wrong to add google adsense to your hosting site?

It is correct since your hosting website is a fake, otherwise you will lose traffic as there would be other hosting companies suggestions on your website.

Its an interesting approach that I think might work for some business models (like someone mentioned Amazon does it), but for web hosting? Unless its some type of free web hosting service that is being provided it would definitely turn me off if I went to a web hosting companies website and saw adsense ads.
 
While I Have seen some "larger" more well-known hosts do this, it's really un-common and does add an unprofessional feel to the site.

However, if you did have a particular page that users may visit at their own will, such as allowing free scripts to be downloaded or maybe if you offer a free web hosting plan, to maybe put the ads in their control panel.
 
Adsense should not be added on your hosting business site. Best use should of adsense should be on free sites and blogs.
