Is it possible to setup rDNS on Shared Hosting?

but rDNS uses the servers IP address, so cant be used on shared hosting as everyone shares the same IP address

Not necessarily, our mail is setup to send your emails via the same IP your website sits on.
If you have a dedicated IP address, then you get your mail sent through that, and we will set your rDNS accordingly, but it must resolve forwards before we let you do it in reverse.

but that is on the mail servers IP, but the OP question is 'Is it possible to setup rDNS on Shared Hosting?' which is no as rDNS is set up on the IP which on shared hosting is a shared IP unless you have a dedicated IP address, which could have rDNS

OP already moved to a VPS, so a little rDNS here and some forwarding there, throw in a shared hosting base and presto, you've got hosting pie.

rDNS doesn't care if it's the main server IP, or if the IP is even bound to anything at all.

For example - we have rDNS set up on every IP we have allocated to us - whether or not it's actually routed or not.

rDNS needs a dedicated IP. so rDNS on shared hosting is not possible.

It's good that you upgraded your service and your issue is resolved.

It is possible.
If your host offers dedicated IPs and you run either cPanel or DirectAdmin, your host should be able to configure this for you!

RDNS can only be set up if you possess a dedicated IP, hence with VPS and dedicated servers it is possible to set up rdns. With shared hosting it is not possible because shared hosting clients share the IP.

If you have shared hosting and purchase a dedicated IP then you can set up rDNS, but on general shared hosting then you cannot setup rDNS

If we want to set rDNS(PTR records) in our DNS zone. There is

requirement of dedicated ip. Our hosting provider can set rDNS record for

our domain records. Without dedicated ip rDNS recods not resolved the

request.

On shared ip address hosting provider set their rdns if you wish to set your own rdns you need to purchase a dedicated ip address which belongs to you only.
