IMPORTANT to know about hosting companies

I've been searching for a long time trying to find these Unlimited Hard Drives these guys use. I've called every supplier I can think of and no one will sell me an unlimited drive.

"No thanks. I don't want the 2TB drives, I want the Unlimited drives. I know they exist because so many hosting providers have them!"

Then they hang up on me. So I call my bandwidth provider:

"Hello, I'd like the unlimited bandwidth please."

Cogent: "We can do a full 10Gbits for you or multiple 10Gbits. Is that what you want?"

Me: "no, I want what HOST-X has. The unlimited bandwidth."

Cogent: "What kind of router do you have?"

So I call Cisco.

"hi, I need the unlimited optics please"

Cisco: "Do you mean the DWDM optics?"

Me: "Is that unlimited because I want what HOST-X has. that way I don't ever need to upgrade bandwidth again because it's unlimited"

Me: "Hello? Hello?"

I know this is a giant conspiricy among my competitors to keep these technologies from me. I'll find them one of these days!!!
Ok, that made me smile :D It's been a long day.

There is always a limit either by design or manufacturing.

The reason why unlimited marketing works is because we do not want to be bothered figuring out our own needs or use.

And while I am no fan of this as a business model, it is what we want. When was the last time any ISP ever stated a bandwidth limitation. I think a few have tried caps and as soon as they were discovered they were skewered in the press. ATT has changed their data plans to limited plans and have seen a good size business hit.

Most customers do not know what they need and so they buy unlimited. It is later on that some (not all by any means) decide they want more out of their host and look towards businesses that have limits to improve service and/or expanded business features.

Well, its better to stay away from Unlimited Hype, it just destroys the purpose of hosting.
It shoudn't be given , and it shoudn't be bought. But people do a lot , so it is creating issues & problems in this hosting market.

This is why time and again people warn newbies about the false advertising of "unlimited space and bandwidth"

I mean, do you REALLY need unlimited space? REALLY?

I agree with you completely. Sorry to take the post away from you but name some companies that do not put iNodes in their TOS.
