I Need Marketing Tips!

I am currently building a cloud structure, preparing for when VPS's become like shared Clients.

Seems possibly the next big thing, however it is not as good as they say. :smash:

I don't see VPS selling like hotcakes, but if you are not in the market yet, you missed the boat as VPS is nearly as saturated as shared hosting. Little higher cost of entry, but not something in the stratosphere. "Cloud" is something I really don't understand how it is selling at all outside of a small niche. When somebody can develop a multi-server hypervisor I'll be impressed, until then, cloud is nothing more then a VPS cluster with per-minute ala carte billing. Just shows the power of buzz words.

I'd like to add this is a great thread, lots of good ideas as I see myself in the same boat, good products/services and low traffic. I've improved traffic quite a bit and I'm seeing some great new ideas here to try as well.

I'm not sure if this was already covered in a round about way already, but I see success with just posting in the hosting forums answering user questions about their hosting on how to do things, might be everyday things for us admin types, but I see it drive traffic.

I have few ideas for You. Try different ppc company, adwords is very good but for begginer it is not effective unless You have big ammount of money, join sites that rate web hosting companies, aswell join sites with reviews, attract customers to review Your company or request review from specialists on their sites, join blogs and social portals to make Yourself more popular and attract clients, create promotions, discounts. Try to be everywhere where You could be to get noticed. Just remember don't overdo, You need to have a restraint while participating in 'everything'.

First post here, I've been "lurking" for a while, seems like a nice forum!

I've tried Google Ads, but they really haven't worked all that well for me. Forum ads have helped a little bit, but not much. Anyone have any good articles, or advice for a managed web hosting company to market its name?

Oh...

I think you need to research well keywords for your online business. With the keywords you have right to get good online business. I almost recommend to people spend few time to researching well keywords.

Don't go for the popular keywords. Do not try to tackle the popular keywords such as "seo" "hosting", instead add a word before or after the keyword such as "seo tips" or "hosting news". Many top 20 positions in less popular keywords is a thousand times better than a top 200 position in a extremely popular keyword

Another big issue to raise and dissolve over here is answering this basic question that how would you prefer your customers finding your website and its services? From the net or through offline kinds of stuff like brochures and catalogs? Sometimes even months of spending would not generate results the way you prefer as decision making is the key also.

Some companies that might be even newly launched ones would not think about doing anything directly by themselves and would instead get in touch with experts and third party marketing firms that would use their money to spread the word about the firms properly online.

Google AdWords definitely works in terms of selling hosting accounts but are your advertising units optimized? Too broad terms might generate temporary clicks or hits but they may never lead to checkouts and sales.

Many times while browsing the net, you may find a blog or directory you feel like accessed by potential customers of your services as the ranges of materials and information displayed on their pages could match your web theme, if possible renting advertising spots on them would be cool.

At the end, you need to remain patient for some time because you are against some big companies and some of them have been online before the year two thousand and so, encouraging their customers to shift to your services would definitely be a time-consuming job.

Why not try reviews for a good web hosting company,, testimonials are the best because it derive from user's own experiences.

I do like my adwords and forum advertising, are you pushing any press releases? if not offering incentives to your customers for referrals is always a good choice.

The more people you can touch with knowledge about your product the better, maybe release a pr doc about how your product can help a company accomplish "example" by using your product. Or how you can help support their businesses technical/hosting needs so they can concentrate on growing their business.

Best thing to do is establish a niche, offer something different and you can tap in to a small but less saturated customer base.

You may want to look at posting in directories, making some standing out web hosting threads, may also want to buy some advertising space can get for as cheap as $5 per month which is nothing.

Try direct mailing on twitter. I use http://asnoop.com/ to do that ... and in terms of sales ... it is worth.

You must take the help of social media like Facebook or twitter. They are very helpful in advertising sites. You can attract lot of customers through these social sites. You can also build some unique and interesting articles to attract visitors to your site.Other than this, directories and blogs with high page rank can also be used for marketing.
