Softaculous Maintenance Announcement

As of Softaculous 3.9.8, our auto installer from this point onward will make it commercially reasonable to maintain the applications that it which it offers more closely. Beyond what we were able to do by scanning for applications' requirements. This is because it will literally red flag to us which applications are considered outdated (currently by Softaculous which is 2 years).

I had decided that this feature will be use of us given that it will limit security issues (generally the older the application is and the less frequent it's updated the more likely it contains major security issues and/or to eventually hack into). Secondary being able to offer an overall better hosting experience (as generally outdated applications also tend to lack/be limited in 3rd party support, current guides, being able to use current server sided features/software, and/or so on). Then of course finally to secure the shared hosting environment overall to assure not only a secure place to host your websites but also ensure performance is at the up most quality at all times.

I had therefore cleaned the server of being able to use these applications through Softaculous given that there are no active clients who even have any of these applications installed through the auto installer. :smiley:

From there this will also be done on a regular basis to limit such problems for the long run as well to prevent our clients from installing something too outdated as well.

Though we always hope that our clients make informed decisions on what applications they use, this will hopefully enforce this further if they wish to avoid being impacted by this routine maintenance. :smiley:
