As a newer webhost i was just wondering how you get your customers. I am advertising on forums. I have a pr4 on google. I mean i am really pushing to get customers and i have gotten a few. but i would like to get more than 3 a month.

I have a pr4 on google.
I think as for newcomer 4 is pretty good result. Look in your local area for customers, try to make some calls, you'll be astonished how many you can get not directly from web .

Nice to hear that you have a PR4 on Google. You need to try posting on Forums getting to know people and post your ads on forums now don't go around spamming all forums with your site post in the forum categories you are suppose to if you don't do this you will make your company / site and you look terrible bad and like a newbie.

You may also try email web masters and going around your town posting up posters about your site and telling them you'll go to there home and explain what to do with the hosting etc. Contact delis by you barber shops etc.

Just check out your local customers and try post links on various blogs and forums related to your server.

try to be honest, and get more campaign your service in accordance with capabilities your webhost.and built good management.

Concentrating on a local market is great advice. New businesses are started everyday, and they all need your services. You need to be aggressive in finding and approaching them. Good luck.

I would suggest you to concentrate on online marketing as if you do that, you will get better rankings and more traffic, however, before you do this, make sure that you have good support team as if the support provided isn't good, you won't be able to retain customers.

Best of luck!!

Good ideas from everyone. I plan on contacting businesses locally that don't have a web presence. It will take more work but hopefully will pay off.

Another way to get customers is by gaining credibility about your performance. Crhronoservers dot com has an interesting ranking of hosting companies by server speed that levels the field for all hosting companies in the world, whether small or large (usually small perform better) you will be shoulder to shoulder in the list. They will send traffic to hosting companies. There is no charge to register. The "sticker" they provide will help you to gain credibility with your potential customers. There are 3 variables that need to be tuned up in order to be successful with hosting. Speed, price and service. If you are outstanding with one of them you will be successful. If you are outstanding with 2 of them you will be known in the industry. I don't know of any one that masters the 3 of them.

The one sure way to get clients that never seems to fail is to take care of your clients...Provide the best possible quality service and the best possible customer support.

If the customer is happy that client will refer more business to you. If you fail to provide good service and support the client will end up leaving and telling all their friends and family to stay away. Some hosts fail in one of the two fields and wonder why their not gaining clients...then, their are some hosts that go beyond the call of duty to make sure their clients are taken care of...A couple examples are Steve's and Conor's hosting companies. Steve helped me a while back, and I have an account with Conor and know what he will do to make a client happy and well taken care of.

Anyways, take care of your clients and they will take care of you.

Another one that I found that worked well was, I host for html classes for the local schools. Getting in to the class is a bit of work, but if you can have the teacher plug your site, or if they will let you host the class for free for the semester, you end up keeping a lot of the students after the class ends.

That was / is by far the best bang for the buck I've found.

If you have friends in college or taking classes, this is REALLY easy to get a plug in the class.

It's a good result...
mybe you must use online marketing to more promote your website and business...Or you can join in many social bookmarking, forum...

Thanks and hope it can help...

"Google"- Results 1 - 10 of about 48,300,000 for how to get hosting clients. (0.24 seconds)

The very first thing I will say here is Don't Use PPC As a New Host. That will doom you financially from the start.

I would like you to check out the following topic that I created a matter of minutes ago: http://www.hostingdiscussion.com/promotion-marketing/22378-how-about-trying-something-different.html and also this one: http://www.hostingdiscussion.com/120074-post18.html

Both topics above should get you a head start in where you want to go.

As for your 3 customers per month. This is good; you should not be offended when you only start out with 3 customers a month. As for your forum advertising. You will not get customers right off the bat, it will take time and it will take work. Keep at it, because right now you wake up and realize that your doing "okay" but when you wake up in 2 years and realize that you have hundreds of clients behind your back then you will feel really good.

Also: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showpost.php?p=6549027&postcount=1 Your going at it. :)

Best Regards,

PR 4 is really good for the website. This will push you up in Google rankings so that you will get more customers.
Try to promote your business in social networking sites make friends there and let them know about your services and uniqueness of your service.

I have launched an affiliate system so people can earn up to 30% if they sell a hosting package comming from traffic from their website.
