How much would you pay for fully managed?

Hi everyone,

We want to hear the community's opinion regarding fully-managed fee and services.

What is a decent fee to charge for the fully-managed portion of a virtual server or a dedicated server?

Please note fully-managed service will require cPanel (which is also an extra $15/Month for Virtual server and $45/Month for dedicated server for the license alone).

Managed service will include:
  • Website Transfer (aka Server Migration)
  • Third Party Software management (installation, configuration, upgrades, ...)
  • Server Optimization & Hardening (From OS to cPanel)
  • 24x7 Proactive Monitoring
  • SSL Setup (does not include actual SSL certificate)
  • e-Commerce consulting, setup and configuration
  • Backup consulting, setup and configuration (does not include backup space)
  • Disaster/Hack Recovery and/or Restore
  • Business consulting and assistance

Also, if you have any thoughts of what else we should add as part of our managed service, please do let us know.

Thanks!

I think once you build a reputation you'll get higher and higher paying clients, if you start offering managed services with extremely high pricing you'll rarely get anybody willing to take the risk.

Who is providing fully managed service for free?
Please tell me ASAP if you get one of them!

Some mentioned in this thread but I'd have to ask what all do they cover and what are there response times? If it's "free" or thrown in management (i.e. for say a $99 server) I'd be highly skeptical.

It depends on what features are included in the Fully Managed Service. Now a days hosts charge competitively these prices.

I agree, if you're going to offer full management to a customer, then you are best off laying out, in detail, what you will cover, and what you won't cover. That way you don't have to get burned... but charging too much usually is very bad, as they are unlikely to ever actually buy. For some providers, that is what they are looking for... charge so much that they never actually have to provide a fully managed service because it will cost them too much to do so.
