How much for web design?

Up to $800-1000. This gotta be a hell of a design. And this is the amound I'm ready to pay for template design of major pages, not necessarily putting the whole site together.

Good to hear there are actually some people out there willing to pay for quality

As a web designer I often come across project listings that are for lack of a better term..offensive :)...What I mean is, they say something like "I want the best. I want FLASH...etc..etc..etc..I want a site that sets me apart from the rest"....then they tell you their budget is $250.

Ofcourse there are those that will have higher budgets for these types of sites but they seem to be few and far between...

Hello,
I usually go for $300-$600 depending on how nice it is. A designer just finished my site and I just can't wait to put it up!
Thanks

It depends. I know Ceonex costs a lot, I actually heard from one of their clients they don't start working for less than $40,000 - however, how true this is I do not know since I never personally contact them.

Although, if this is true, I'd never use Ceonex, and wouldn't use them anyway. Simple: I don't like their designs. There's only two or three which I really like, however the rest for me are awful, although this is my personal taste.
I quite like the designs of PixelAxis. Their designs seem pretty nice, and certainly worth a lot more than Ceonex I think. This however is only what I think. I also quite like some designs from Ravio.
Oh, also on PixelAxis: I don't like their templates, don't seem as good as the full sites.
HostSkin: I'd never use, I think they are over priced for the quality. Sorry, but these are only my thoughts. I don't like their designs at all I'm afraid.

Actually: I'm quite fussy, heh, as you can already tell. ;)
I really do though find it quite hard to find some other company to design a website that I like. The reason I only ever design my own when I have the time if I can, because others just don't seem to have the same vision as me... :(

However, if it were a full website and was very good, I'd be very willing to pay $600+ since a very good design from TemplateMonster which is exclusive and is full site costs from $600 to $1,500.

Hi,
I think this theme is realy very important for persons
who interested to have realy professional design as well
as for webdesigners who offer their service.
I see a lot of topics where people offer their designs
for $15-50 and use such words as "professional" or "amazing" and etc. That is very funny.
Most of the design offers in forums like that about 95% I think are absolutely ugly and people who make these works are not professionals.
Course, Ceonex or Innovedia are leaders as high professionals
and customers pay for their trademarks too so their prices are very expensive. Some of designers have no "name" yet and you could ask some recomedations from people who have the design you loved for contact with this designer directly.
Probably, you do not need to buy whole site. A few main templates with source files could be enough to build a website and save money.

I'm webdesigner and work as designer about 15 years but I can't say that I can make everything. We all are students for the rest
of our life :-)

About prices. I'm fully agree the price directly depend from your
requirements. From my side middle price for the professional design can be:
main template with light flash - $250-350 and even more, template for subpages - $200-250.

Anyway, before design ordering I recomend you to review
graphic works from portfolio.

I ask you all men to excuse my english. Hope I've made not
too much mistakes.

Serge

Thanks for loyalty.
Any time ready to discuss or help you.
I make a lot of graphic works. Probably I will be interested to look some of them.
Please be free to contact any time you wish.

Best regards.

I haven't had many "big" sites to quote as of yet. I usually charge between ÂŁ100 / $190 and ÂŁ300 / $567.

Ocassionally I will charge less if they are on a budget and it's only a small website.

I payed $130 for my website, The link to it is in my signature. I have never bought a template before. Can anyone tell me if this is a good price for the quality of the website?

I usually charge anywhere between $200-$600 for a fully customized web template/layout. I would charge more for a large project.

I usually hire people to do the graphic design work and then code it from a PSD file. Costs me around $100-200 for the graphics usually.

I usually pay around $200-$250 for quality web design. But I also purchase in bulk from design teams. (Usually ten plus designs at a time). Helping to leverage my costs for my clients <<link removed>>

MOD NOTE: I recommend you setup a signature. That way you won't have to include a link to your site in your post. ;)

My prices for custom website design range from $250-$600, which I believe is very reasonable. Clients can talk with the designers and comeup with exactly what they have pictured for their site. Around these forums we (designers) find many clients who aren't willing to pay alot because most of them are just starting out. That is why I create alot of pre-made templates for around $100-$250. So in my opinion, anywhere from $200 upto $1000 is a very reasonable price for a quality website design. Just have to find the right designers. ;)

I like webprosys alot... I also like alot of the larger companies like 2advanced.com and flashlevel.com . I talk to some of these guys on a regular basis, but their prices are high because they are the best you can get.

For me, it really depends on the client. If I were to get approached by a big company, I would charge alot, $800+ ... but if the average host contacts me, I am willing to go around $200, more or less. Always start high with your price and work your way down in my opinion. Can always go down, but never up.

Hm... I really hope the higher price is for a higher quality design because I don't think prices should go up that much just because you're dealing with a big company who can afford it. I would find that rather unfair.

I was merely expressing my view on the matter. Do as you know best. Who am I to interfere with your business? Now that I think about it, a big company might not like the idea of a $300 website design. They might fell that $800 sounds a lot better. The "too good to be true" theory... :)
