I need shared hosting that will allow a blog & rss & decent bandwidth.
Storage is not that important.

I do not want a host that will shut me down if my blog starts getting
on the front page of some social bookmarking sites.

Banana Hosting
BlueHost
Blurstorm
Dynamic Hosting
HostNine
ICDSoft
Integra-Net
Lunarpages
PolurNET Webhosting
RealWebhost
Servage

I wonder when we'll be big enough to get on someone's list. We've almost got 100 domains and two servers. That must say something!

How much bandwidth are you looking for?

The best way to decide whom to sign up with is to search for reviews on them, this way you will read about other people's experienced with their services and support :)

To choose a web host is not a easy job. We have to go through lot of research. The kind of platform we want for our website, does it has the latest PHP, MySQl. Then it comes on disk space, bandwidth, email accounts and how many add on domains. And the most important the price factor. When we want a good host we also want it to be affordable for our pockets. So i think when choosing a webhost we all check some top reiew sites www.webhostingchat.com and etc. but apart from this i think that we need to know some real facts of a host from a real person cause it makes a lot of difference.

My 1st advice to you is to stay away from hosts that give you a lot of space for a few $. Those would cut you off on the 1st sign that your website gets popular.
Also their servers are quite slow cuz of overcrowding.

You could also help your self in advance and install the wp-cache plugin which is VERY helpful when blogs become really big.

In any case, i cannot tell/recommend you about any the hosts you have listed.

Kind regards,

I can only comment on a few of the hosts you've chosen.

Bluehost: Not a day goes by I don't get a link from digg or reddit that sends me to a page that says "Suspended for CPU usage" and it's 9 times out of 10 from bluehost. So, if you're
using a wordpress blog, I'd limit yourself on the plugins if you go with them.

Servage: They oversell, in a BIG way. CPU limits are kinda tight, and I've seem their speed drop a lot. I'd defiantely do your homework on this company before signing up.

Lunarpages: I hear some problems occasionally, experience them occasionally, but the frequency is definitely less than with the previous two companies.

I'm not sure if this is "solicitation", as I'm not personally connected to the company, but I'd go with medialayer if you want a really speedy host that won't buckle under pressure. I've dealt with them a bit, and they're good people. Mods, if this is against forum rules feel free to edit the post accordingly, but as I said, I'm not affiliated with them.

looks like a good list, i cant comment from experience with any of those hosts but Polour appears to have good feedback and always check TOS before signing up according to how much you can actually use

As per my experience these are the features which give Servage an EDGE from all.

Rails support - Although I am not using Rails, I would need it for some future projects. Servage provides full rails support.

Multiple domain hosting - Servage allows unlimited domains on a single hosting plan.

Uptime - Servage has come through on this one. My site has not been down at all.

Bandwidth - Servage's plan offers 3.6 Terabytes of bandwidth a month. I have not touched the limit yet, but it’s nice to know that it is there.

Disk space - Servage offers 360GB disk space with their standard account. The available disk space also grows the longer you are signed up with them.

CPU usage - I plan to do some web development, and so needed a host that will allow me to make good use of the CPU. Servage runs on a clustered server, meaning that there are sufficient processors to take up the slack when needed.

Affordability - On the yearly plan, Servage costs me $6.45 a month.

Support - Speedy support on the one question that I had. "I have to say, you guys are pretty good. I can’t remember the last time I got customer service like this. Simply, this is awesome."

Overall, I am delighted with the service I have received from Servage, and would recommend them to one and all.

Its better try to get a demo/test Space from the service provider and test it according to your parameter, i think this will help you in analysing the support of service provider which is very crucial.

To choose a host is a tough task because we are not sure of what the host is all about. We try to check out review sites to minimize our problem but when we check it out we find that almost every other review site is affiliated to some hosting companies and creating an artificial hype for their company. We are also not sure of what kind of service and support they are going to provide us. The only option is to do some research about the host.

When I had to decide about a host I analyzed each and every fact which I got from my contacts and then I decided to go with Servage. It's far better then my previous host and provides quality service without promising something which is not possible and so far I have not had any issues. I think they will be ok with giving a test run for you. Why don’t you approach them with that question?

Great web hosting company

I've had a lot of problems with my previous webhost, after a power outage, all my data got deleted on the server.
So i switched and haven't looked back. This company has 1st class support and i can call them anytime and speak to a real person,
so definitely give them a try. They are known for great 24/7 costumer support.
The link is <<REMOVED: Affiliate links not allowed.>>

Warmest regards,

Shelly.

Your best bet is too find reviews. Search various web hosting forums to see users testimonials and feedbacks on their services.
