I have a site at HostingU.com and it has went over the exceeded bandwidth limitations. Ok my bad, but I have tried to contact them to either pay for the extra bandwidth or upgrade my hosting package. But I have had no reply from serveral emails.
It has been almost 3 weeks and the site is still down. Is there any why for me to transfer my domain name to another host. I have all my files, thank god. But I want to keep the same domain name. I have given up and will have my credit charge back my payment to HostingU.
Any suggestions on how to get my domain name? It came with the hosting for free. I checked the register info and this is what it says:

My company is ONT Consulting so I should be able to keep it and change the servers.

According to the contracts that you agreed upon with your host, you should be able to transfer all of your site for free..all that would need to happen would be to notify the registrar of the DNS for the new host of your choice. Then you would sign up for hosting with a new host and they should set up your account for free and then about 24 to 36 hours later the DNS should be resolved to the new host.....anyhow if your host isn't responding to any e-mails and requests you should probably look for another host soon.

if you wanna chat about any of this hit me up:

Well I have tried to contact the registrar and the email is not valid. Yes you are right about finding a new host, I am in the process of that now.
thanks for your info.

Well... actually you cannot transfer for free. It's like this: if you wanted to transfer your account to eNom account, then you have to pay something like $8/domain if I'm not mistaken.

That would be fine with me. But I can't contact anyone to access the domain name to change the DNS.
Does eNom also do the hosting?

This is the problem with hosting companies that are not local. You should look into finding a local host. I had the same thing happen for a personal site, and it took me 3 months to get my domain back. It was heinous. (I try to keep my personal stuff separate from my work, so I was using an online shared hosting company...if I were more comfortable combining my professional life and personal life I would never have done it.) I have a lot of clients that switch to us because we are local, in the phone book, if needs be you could drive right up to our office and meet us. There is value in that.

you should always make sure that the Domain name that you register is in your name and not the comapny that you are hosting with. This will help avoid conflict in the future regarding transfers.

If you are still having problems i can take care of you and have u running in the next 24 hours. My chat details are at the beginning of this thread. I can also offer you free setup and a month free to try us out. All our bandwidth is from Level(3), so with a premium carrier such as them, we can offer quality and redundant hosting packages. Let me know when you are ready.
