hosting services

What is good hosting in your opinion?
Share your ideas about that please.

If you want to choose the best hosting provider, before making your choice , please pay attention to the following aspects:

Price - as it is always important for a customer to buy a hosting plan which costs not much
Discounts/promo - while choosing a package, the user always seeks for a discount or available promo codes which will provide him an opportunity to buy hosting for an affordable price

Disk space/bandwidth - most rookies want to have enough disk space and traffic in order to host their sites without any problems

Money back guarantee - after ordering a package a beginner should be sure that the company will return him the money in case of the server problems

Account activation time - costumers are eager to know how much time it takes to set up their account after they make an order on the site and pay for the hosting package.

Free domain - as the customer starts its project, he/she will surely want to get it for free to save some money

Scripts for site creation - when the user buys a hosting plan, he is usually not very familiar with site building and that is why this is fine when different scripts for site building are provided within the hosting package

According to these factors, we can create our own list of the hosting companies which suit all these criteria. So the list of the companies is given on the picture below:

Good hosting has to have:

1) Good uptime - As low amount of downtime as possible.

2) Competent tech support - In my opinion competency is even more important than 24/7 availability.

3) Customer service - Communication with the client should always be courteous. The host shouldn't in any way keep the client from leaving/migrating to other hosts.

I agree with attracthd because each hosting provider must care about their clients and his/her post includes the most important articles.

These i totally agree with, but point 3 is the most important as you could have 100% uptime and grade A tech staff, but if you have customer service that is rude etc to clients then client would leave.

point 3 also goes with any businesses as let your customers rant. rave and swear at you, but just smile and take it

Combinations of:

- Attractive prices and great quality - uptime, server performance, fresh software, security.
- Easy to communicate sales / tech. staff
- Always should bring to the customer a bit more then expected
- Help customer to grow up in the industry

Good customer service is probably #1 - good speed, reliable, etc. At the end of the day, reviews will tell you who is "good".

Let's see... First of all, good hosting means good uptime. They should have backup servers just in case.
Low price - you can now buy webhosting for as low as 1$ a month.
Another quality should be the server speed - I tend to leave websites if they take too much time to load, it's annoying.

If you expect

1) good uptime
2) backup server
3) good quality server speed

All on $1 a month host then you are kidding yourself.

I think good hosting this is company which not create daily ticket with attention about big load of cpu, when load really is not.

have you had this trouble with a host in the past as most hosts wont do this. also these type of emails are usually system generated and not sent by a host direct.

Yeah you right, but in my situation it was generated by hands of support admin daily :D.

yes best then to change hosts.

we have our own servers and if any clients causes a high load first we look for the process causing this and then kill that process and then inform our client what we did, if this client continues to cause the high load we look at either moving the client to another server that can cope with his load or suspend/terminate the client.

The good hosting will serve customers to their needs. not just boasting how good their servers and reliable but the support system is crap.

Thic could be true, but even some companies with a crap support system server their customers and have reliable servers.

I have seen many hosts that use WHMCS and CE that do not have the support system configured correctly or have blank Knowledgebase pages, but does not say they are not reliable

The opposite is true too. A properly configured support system and huge knowledgebase doesn't guarantee fast and stable servers. :) Still, it's an indication... :)

exactly, its the same in any business or anything in life, nothing is guaranteed.
Anyone can say that they have a good service and reliable servers. But if you research a host you will find out iof it is true or not, but if a host has configured their support system corrently and have an extensive knowledgebase their should be less need for you to contact their support for simple answers as these should be in their KB.
