hosting-pp.com

Hello,

as an FYI hosting-pp has been down for 2 days. I have used their support form to request statuses, and was told this was a planned upgrade. They did not notify me via my 10 sites I have through them, and the updrage is suppose to be moving the sites to a new server. Sorry but I have never heard of a company taking down old server tranfer files and then bring up new ones.

Please learn from my mistake

As a complement to this post, I am having the very same bad experience with hosting-pp. My site has been unreachable since Jan 1st 2007 (already 5 days) and after raising a trouble ticket to Tech Support I got a similar (and ridiculous) answer: because of a planned server upgrade to increase the memory and provide a better speed.

No warnings were sent to me about a possible downtime and when I explicitely requested a date when the service is supposed to be restablished, I got a vague answer like they will contact me as soon as it is done.
I raised a second trouble ticked addressed to customer service asking again explicitely about a date when the problem will be solved and after 36 hours, I am still waiting for an answer.

In short:

- Planned upgrade without warning the customers? Very professional...
- Downtime of many days without providing any sound explanation? They are definitely the providers NOT to choose.

The 99.999% uptime announced on their homepage is really an illusion.

And retaking jwbworks words:

Please, learn from our mistake!

I was wondering how two people managed to find this thread in the space of a single day, but I see it's #3 on google for "hosting-pp". I guess your messages will really get the attention you want them to. :)

I was with another host a few years back, and I enjoyed a similar experience, during the New Year. Needless to say, I got tired of waiting and moved. It turned out to be a wise decision, as for years afterwards that host had all kinds of issues.

I just searched google for a review on google about hosting-pp.com due to the exact same problem. My site has been down since friday and things got a little fishy after they stopped replying to my 'trouble tickets'. Safe to say i'm looking for a new host, I never needed that much space anyway. Lucky I only wasted $4 for a months service (well I say month, I probably had a good 3 days of uptime :) )

...Yeah I signed up just for that.

Just by looking at their site shows lack of thought in their business. Their design I would probably place 9th in the Top 10 Worst Web Hosting Designs that I've seen to date.

Secondly there clearly over selling.

Finally, there is no Billing System it just goes straight to 2CO, and a company which doesn't list a Phone Number, Address and hides their Domain WHOIS (With a Package Scheme like that), Doesn't sound very reliable in my eyes.

I'm not here to trash them as I can't speak on behalf of either the Customer or the Company however just by doing a whois and browsing their site gives that impression in 5 minutes.

Hosting-pp.com Web Hosting Is Terrible!

We support a number of clients, some of which were using hosting-pp.com web hosting services. hosting-pp.com shut their servers down or over 10 days without any warning to us. After the first few days of down time, they claimed they were installing new RAM and to expect the servers up the next morning, but they remained down. After a few more days, they told us the servers would be up the next morning, but it was regular maintenance. They never came back Online. After a week we stopped getting any response from them, and our clients all asked to move to new web hosts. Now, hosting-pp.com refuses to handle our repeated requests for refunds and are avoiding us.

We'd like to help other companies avoid hosting-pp.com for web hosting, because they are unreliable and their customer service is garbage. I would challenge anyone to find a valid email address or phone number to get support. We were stuck using their crappy Ticket Submission system, which they conveniently ignore now.

We have since moved most of those dissatisfied clients to godaddy.com who are extremely reliable and have tech support over the phone for free. The cost is similar of a bit cheaper, but the quantity is better.

Well all here is my update. When the servers finally came up this month, all my sites were either corrupted or blanked out. Hmm maybe because I complained daily? Anyways my main site was suspended after I asked for a restore. The reasoning I was told, was they found illegal software in my directory. Their tech service did confirm they know I did not upload it, and had a call in to the server admin, but my site stays suspended. This has been the state for well over a week.

I did some digging and some old hosting-pp forum listings show hongjunwebdesign as an IM. hongjun is the name listed on the hosting-pp welcome emails as the project manager. So given that you cant call these guys, and they block their address info when doing a whois, I had to do some digging. I did a search on this and found an online business card script using the same contact info. This script links to http://www.flexpress.net. They have an online chat/contact, and I asked if hongjun was available. I was told no he was out but you can reach him by calling 0116 222 2223. I then asked if they dealt with hosting-pp issues, and was told We are not dealing with hosting-pp, and immediatly disconnected.

I hope this helps you.

a fellow bitter hosting-pp customer

Hi all,

here is an update on my dealings with Hosting-pp. I got sick of waiting for Hongjun and team to decide if they would get off their butt, and got a dedicated server with aplus.net. In the mean time I decided to contact Hongjun about my domain. I went to the site I mentioned flexpress.net. There are forum postings out there where the poster using the alias Hongjun has the exact same profile as two posters (hosting-pp and hongjun) who use to promote hosting-pp back in 2003 - 2005.

Here is the log of my chats. The first chat I talked with a guy Steve:

System: Please Wait while connecting to an operator

You''re connected to operator - Steve

Steve: Hi Sorry for Delay I'm Steve

User: hello I am trying to reach Hongjun

Steve: Hongjun is not online at the moment, you can reach him by calling 0116 222 2223

User: great thank you

User: is he usually in

User: cause I am having an issue with my site

Steve: Yes. But he is not always online as he sometimes has visitors with him

User: do you help with hosting-pp

User: or is it just him

Steve: I'm just going to pass you over to him

User: ok

User: im in the states do you have an email for hi?

Steve: this is Flexpress Ltd.

Steve: We are not dealing with hosting-pp

Steve: Sorry

System: Operator has closed your chat

Here is my second chat where I actually got ahold of hongjun:

System: Please Wait while connecting to an operator

You''re connected to operator - Hongjun

Hongjun:

Hongjun: Hi

Hongjun: Can I help you?

Hongjun: Hello?

User: hi I need Hongjun to help me with my site hosted on his server at hosting-pp.com.

Hongjun: We do not know hosting-pp.com , please can you advise what's it?

Hongjun: what's your domain?

Hongjun: We are a printing company

User: bigvaluezone.com

Hongjun: Do you need any printing services?

User: Hongjun is listed as the contact on the setup email, and on many forum postings

User: his AIM account is also used for links to this site

Hongjun: Sorry, I have no idea with it, it is a different Hongjun I believe

Hongjun: I believe it's a fake AIM

User: just realize this chat will be used on forums

Hongjun: Sorry we are not able to provide further support

System: Operator has closed your chat

Now here is the funny part immediatly after this chat, I got a response to a ticket that had been open for over a week which had no real updates. the response was from directly from Hongjun and he responded to my issue with the following:

No matter a hacker or someone else, you are responsible for the account. I have cancelled your account. You will no longer be billed.

So hopefully this posting will open the eyes of people who are looking at hosting-pp and I want to make sure they do not fall prey having your site down.

thanks for your time.

Thanks for the review jwbworks. It should benefit potential customers to signup to them. However just by the way they presented their website shows a lack of commitment and investment and public they are.

Surely they know it is a terrible website.

Yes it seems to be an easy way to get money. Since 99 I have been trough two shared hosting companies. Most of the time they start out good hearted and try to help their customers, but eventually they become slum lords who could care on if they are affecting your business. My advice on find a hosting company try using cnet.com, do a goole search on the company name & read all the results that are not from that companies site, make sure they have an SLA (Service Level Agreement). And in the case of Hosting-pp make sure there is contact information (not just email, but an acutal address)

thats my two cents.

Good Advice and hope you find a new provider you are happy with :)

try using cnet.com
Some would disagree with cnet's picks though. Personally, I'm a well moderated hosting forums fan though, as I tend to trust the pre-screening of reviews done by moderators and members. :)
