Here’s why you should never go for free hosting

Well, you shouldn't expect a premium services for free. You will only get the premium services if you pay for it.

well this depends on what sort of free hosting you have.

1) A set free trial
2) Advertised free hosting
3) a charity/community group free hosting plan

I would expect with 1 and 3 you should get the same service as if you paid.

it is not determined by the prices although some other companies that are charging rates to provide hosting also got in troubles like these..

Well, free hosting is only usable if your new but there are many disadvantage as it doesn't have guarantee that your content are secure.

In reality, there's no such thing as "free hosting". It will always cost another party to provide you, the end user/consumer, with "free hosting". As the saying goes, "there is no free lunch." The cost to the other party may be so high that they lack giving you quality support, downtime may be frequent, etc.

It will always "cost" you in another way, and that may not be paying for the service up front since it is labeled as "free".

Hope that made sense. :)

As i stated in http://www.hostingdiscussion.com/we...hould-never-go-free-hosting-6.html#post170386 it really depends on what sort of free hosting.

We used to offer Charity/Community groups free hosting ( they had to provide charity number or prove of community status which we would check was genuine). This was provided on a separate server to what our paid clients were on. We provided these with the same level of service that we give our paid clients. We provided this for 2 years before selling this part of our business to a specialist charity host as what they offered was too good of a deal to turn down.

Ahh...memories of Economics class...

Anyways, Free hosting isn't free as HostHatchKelvin stated, "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch" (TANSTAAFL).

Someone is paying for it, whether it be the end user or the host. The end user may pay for the free hosting in terms of downtime or lack of support. Things like that.

If you want to run a truly successful business, pay for your hosting.

Their is risk of content theft in free hosting too + security issues are commonly with free hosts

True that's a risk with free hosts (but not all) as you are getting hosting free, the host will most likely have the bare minimum server without any DDOS protection or other security protection as means they have to fork out more money or spend valuable time installing free scripts that do this

Haven't heard of any reputable free hosts. You can never be one hundred percent sure that your data is safe and your site will be online the next morning. A nice deal for a personal website or anything that is not mission-critical though.

Their will be some out their, but cant name any off my head.

We used to have a server that we offered free hosting to registered charities and community groups, where they got the same service as our paid clients, but they never got confirmed hosting until we confirmed their charity status or community groups status with the local authority.
We sold this server and clients to a host that specialises in Charity Hosting after they approached us with an offer too good to pass on. since then we have had a few of the charities sign back up with us on paid plans as they liked our service

You can't with 95% of paid web hosts neither. Most are kids that will drop out when they don't cover their $25 reseller in the first month sadly.

If you are operating a business website, many online transactions are dependent on the functioning of the website. Therefore, it is extremely important to support the website with an efficient web hosting platform. Also, the web hosting platform is a long term investment for your website so if your website is the best, then why compromise on the quality of the web hosting platform?

The bottom line is everything costs something. How much does it cost though? Whether it is $5 per month or 2 hours of downtime per day, you are PAYING something for it. Also, the host has to be making money (or is the nicest person in the world who has too much time on their hands) for the servers to be reliable. How could they possibly afford to pay for top quality bandwidth and top of the line hardware by charging users $0 per month? Are they injecting advertising, or what? Does their uptime suck? Are the servers slow?

Some web hosts start free thinking that they will be able to scale up to paid options once they attract some interest.

More often than not these hosts are the one who get their reseller hosting service from Post2Host contests or something like that.

Pretty sure if a web host pays for their reseller hosting/VPS/Dedicated server, then they will charge their customers as well. Otherwise you can be rest assured that the hosting service you are getting is off very low quality.
