Help with ecommerce web hosting?

Free Hosting are unsupported and not safe for hosting e-commerce website because you are going to process payments of your clients and you'll need to establish trust with your clients online.

Be sure that you get a dedicated IP number so you can install an SSL Certificate. Also find out about backup procedures and how often they're done. Find out how many you're sharing the system with, and be sure to run your PCI Compliance scans on the machine.

Running a business should not be done on the cheap side.

If you use Paypal, you may not need a dedicated IP or SSL certificate, but I would recommend it.

I would stay far far away from free hosting though. That's asking for trouble. In the hosting industry, you get what you pay for. If you pay nothing, you get nothing in terms of support and reliability.

Paid hosting is what you should get if your going to host a e-commerce site. Free hosting would give you a bad name, and the secuirty would be an issue. Free hosting tends to attract a shady croud and you do not want to be on the same server with shady characters; stuff could happen.

Yea, a good plan for you would be like around 5$ for a starter on some hosting sites they offer::
5GB Disk
50^GB Band
Unlimited Spec...

hi knhusco, there is alternative, that is to use dedicated ssl in certain sites. it is usually increase your buyer and potential client for more trusting you.

Don't run your E-commerce website on Free Webhosting at all, lot's of webhosting companies offer you e-commerce hosting with Free Shopping Card and Shared SSL for a low monthly rate , you can try them for around $5/Mo, a bit higher or cheaper

that is the best way from staying away from trouble , and LOST MONEY!

Curious to know... any one really knows some company offering free Ecommerce based hosting service ? Is OP referring free shared hosting ?
I think the OP is simply asking for the least expensive solution to ecommerce. The site referenced is free for the first 50 products. There are certainly a lot of free shopping carts and free hosts, but you still need a gateway and merchant account. If you went with PayPal, your overall costs could be quite low. In any event, I'd never recommend free hosting for ecommerce.

getting free hosting for an e-commerce website might not be wise,it may work for your business but Its generally good to have a paid package for an E-commerce website.

You need to make sure your host has PCI compliant servers if you're going to run an ecommerce site. You may be able to scoot by with only using PayPal, but, I would get a dedicated IP and SSL if you plan on processing customers personal information. Most people won't give out their personal information without a little lock in the browser.

It's not just your host that needs to be PCI compliant, but you need to be compliant as well. This goes much deeper than just having a dedicated IP and SSL certificate.
