I registered the business domain in 1996 and ran as a general web services business for 4 years. I officially registered WWM as a hosting business in June of 2000 in Dallas and started offering small web hosting services. Then a year and a half ago I really dedicated a lot of funds and times to really push us in the hosting industry and started accepting customers world wide. I actually have 2 customers that have been with me since 1996.
The affiliate programs are just something for advertising and $15/sale is actually about what I pay for magazine ads and other things. I have no problem at all paying customers for real sign ups, I do like it when the customers stay with us for at least the 30 days money back time frame. This makes it so people that like to abuse affiliate programs don't sign up accounts then charge them back, we just like to make sure they are legitiment. As for the spammy look I apologize, as I said we have never really advertised the affiliate program outside of our customers.
Here is the whois info, I think the recent registration you saw is that I renewed the domain for 5 more years. I sure wish I would have been smart enough in the beginning to register all the other renditions of WWM. They want $3k+ for the .com and .org now.
