Fraud

I find Maxmind pointless for cients that have little timing and after seeing maxmind on your site they run away because they feel is a drag

Do you find you have more fraud attacks for a particular country or region?

Not trying to be racist or point fingers. Just trying to get a feel of what others are experiencing.
Hi there,

Fraud attacks happen in every business. In order to avoid as many as possible, set a verification procedure: for example a phone number verification through a pin Code. If the customer chooses SMS he will receive the pin in a text message. If he chooses a phone call, he will receive an automatic phone call providing the pin. After he gets the pin code, he has to enter it in a specific field to confirm the order and be able to make the payment. It is a fact, that the ones trying to commit fraud, won't provide a valid phone number. Cheers!

Maxmind provides minFraud service for Online Fraud Prevention. Maxmind verify the customer through Phone verification by calling to them.

@vegas, most potential customers that run away when they see maxmind are probably fraudsters, who don't want to waste time.

Anyone not willing to take part in anti-fraud is probably not worth the risk.

+1. Most people are fully aware of fraud and the risks so in most cases do understand why we are required to validate certain orders if they are deemed high risk.

We try to be as reasonable as possible though also do need to protect ourselves.

Yes. Interestingly the trend moves around to different countries over the years. Right now we're seeing a lot of malicious traffic from Indonesia. Of course, we also have many excellent Indonesian customers, who I think very highly of.

Bitcoin sure can help with fraud...

Sarcasm? Or do you mean ... helps because there's no refunds offered once the money is transferred?

I'd still be a little weary of those people completely refusing to pay by any other method other than Bitcoin.. for anonymity, or whatever their true intentions...

I agree, we have had people contact us on live chat etc. asking can they pay by Bitcoin and had some ask if they can pay by Bank Transfer. All i do is explain what payment methods we accept and we wont accept any other methods. 9 out of 10 you never here from them again.

I had one even registered with the domain financed-yahoo.com which he also wanted the register this through us, but he never paid he contacted asking if he could pay by bank transfer. but by the time he placed the order and contacted me i cancelled the order as it was clearly going to be used for some sort of phishing scam
