Is it a must nowadays to advertise your website in Facebook? There are many big companies that moved from their traditional advertising to Facebook advertising. One of them is Pepsi where they transferred from Super Bowl advertisement to Facebook.

Well Facebook is a social networking site. Most of the people now a days have access to Facebook, thus, it is one of the best ways to advertise your product/company.

you cant say it is a must, but you should always try to publish your ads were you can see people hanging around for everything now a days. Facebook is such site where you can get maximum visibility :)

It's funny, everyone is talking about having a presence on Facebook for their company but in the terms and conditions on Facebook, it specifically says that advertising companies is forbidden. So the very thing we're all being told to do is not technically allowed!

And yet, I don't see a real effort by Facebook to weed out what must be hundreds of thousands of corporate accounts.

Are you saying that because you have some sort of statistics that web hosting advertising on Facebook works?

Facebook, Twitter, all of those places are being hit up with people trying to plug one this or another, and yes while it could be a good marketing tool some are going about it the wrong way. Just like people who abuse sig. lines on forums, its not called spam for nothing.

Yes i agree facebook is the best way to promote your websites. I have an account of facebook and i hope it is work.

If the member posts something relevant that adds value to the thread, I generally don't care what their signature looks like, unless of course it contains blatant advertising offers. :D

Yeah, we have to be allowed to include our information somewhere ;) I think, just like anything, it's about balance and general rules of politeness. Participate, put in the time, and a link or two are okay. Show up once with a flash ad in your signature and you're on my sh*t list.

Posting threads and replies in a forum, you add content to the forum. If your posts are are relevant to the forum topics, quality and informative, you add some value to the forum. Allowing you to put your signature is one of the ways the forum owner rewards you for your contribution. If you post irrelevant content, you add no value to the forum. Hence you contribute nothing and deserve no reward. That simple.

Just saw on TV yesterday that Facebook was considering charging - but they've denied that. I could see an mass exodus back to MySpace if that happened.

This will only be scary to heavy Facebook users. I use it pretty much for contact management (not to lose touch with the people I know). I don't care about games, special apps, or anything else really. I don't even care for sharing photos/videos to be honest.

Steve, I think what Facebook is planning on is to become a payment processor on its application platform, especially in online games that people play through Facebook. So for any transaction they would be involved in, they'd collect a fee.

I could not find any information regarding the actual membership fees. Facebook denies any plans to charge a monthly or yearly fees.

Only passing on what I saw on Fox 2 news this morning. When I saw the $14.95 price tag run across the screen, my wallet started screaming. :D I have no doubt you're absolutely correct, Artashes.

This is really bad if they are going to charge people for the account membership. There are many social networking sites that would cater all those people who wouldn't want pay a monthly or yearly bill.

I got a feeling that this payment is for advertisements and games, like what Artashes said.

While Facebook can be an effective means of marketing, I definitely wouldn't say it is a must. Facebook IMO is nothing more than a grownups version of Myspace. My opinion of Twitter is not much better. Twitter reminds me of everyone yelling at the same time and no one being heard. Besides Twitter is full of spam and other unwanted garbage. So as you can see I am not a big fan of social marketing in general.

Many other people love both Facebook and Twitter, so to each their own.

:D A grownup version of MySpace? Everyone I know was on MySpace, including me. I don't think I remember my password anymore though.
